I have a 2014 dodge journey that I got suckered into buying due to a time crunch... The wannabe dealership that pulled this claimed it was in excellent mechanical condition, yet I had to take it back to them a few days later due to the wiring harness having a good dozen or more breaks in it ... City Ford, the scumbags of the year award that I bought it from, had for a week to get this repair done. Being that I bought it on New Year's Eve, I wanted to put good winter tires on it, and the business that I went to for that was fountain tire, within a week or so of getting it back, and they said that the suspension needed major work, but I was so determined to keep this vehicle, that I didn't take it back to the slime bag dealership ( which I should have done looking back now ) that cost me a good 3500 bucks, which if memory serves did include new winter tires... Over the span of 2 years, I have ended up having to spend a good 70% of what I had paid for the damn thing in repairs.. ( just over 10 k purchase price... ) anyone not see how mad I am about this? Add in life events and a large number of funerals that I could not attend, I am facing the problem of being broke and the throttle control sensor and stability sensor deciding to pack it in... And it's been suggested that disconnecting the battery will hopefully fix the problem since I can't sell this thing and get a replacement vehicle... Thoughts? Bought it on New Year's Eve 2021

Several videos.... However they have various sequence of events, some of which are perhaps not "best practice"... Ideal #1 Spray the bracket nut and battery terminals with "Easing Fluid of you Choice".... #2. Remove the small electrical plug/socket on the Negative/Chassis Ground, while its "mate" is still attached and firm. #3 Remove the bolt holding the Negative/Chassis Ground cable to the bracket attached to the battery NEG post. Move the cables away from the battery and hold them clear with string/rope/clip (whatever)..... #4 Remove the bolt holding Positive/Red cable to the bracket attached to the POS battery post. Move the cable away from the battery and hold clear as per what was done with the Negative cable. #5... Another spray of "Easing Fluid of you Choice" to the nut at the top of the rod on the "hold down bracket"... Try to undo the nut, if it moves at all, then reverse direction (tighten) slightly and respray, then try and undo again.. It can be reached from above with a long extension bar. Try forward and back and spray to ease the nut off... Note 1:: If the battery terminal bolts are tight it's easier to work them loose without the battery dancing around. Note 2:: With the battery disconnected and the cables out of the way there is far less chance of the long extension bar causing a short between vehicle body and POS battery terminal. Note 3:: With the cables secured out of the way it is easier to "jiggle/juggle" the battery out. Clean it all up. Run the nuts on the various bolts, wire brush and lubricant.... And: If you are reading this then you are a DIY mechanic... Another 10-15 + minutes is not the end of the world...

This points good to disconnect when you use memory save battery. After this you can replace battery under fender without headache to keep positive cable insulated from negative body.

What happens if you don't disconnect negative? Or if positive is not properly disconnected i.e. all wires entirely removed? Will it damage electronic components? Ever since my relatives' Freemont's battery got replaced, its Auto-headlights just randomly turn off during the night which is a safety concern on highways, so you have to turn it on and off again manually every time.
