I tried out sort of 3d infill with slic3r long time ago. it was with hexagon and it turned to be more expensive, because of the walls and not structures as yours. you made a good example of geometry, design and material knowledge in one project.

error "no multiple shells found" when separating shells is because you are using sla and inserting holes that joins the inside and outside but i cant find how to add holes after its made as it cant hollow the hollow to put holes in and there is no separate hole tool?

OK so for people trying to use lattice in SLA you have to put cylinders in the model where you want the holes then use BOOLEAN DIFFERENCE !

it'd be cool to do that with a duel extruder: clean for the shell and red for the lattice...or something similar

Cool video! By chance can you tell how much filament you saved/used by changing to this process from original default settings to this custom design? Thanks

Hey! I have to try! Retracion probably have to be reduced. Especially when you using an elastic filaflex. In my case I need to print regular reticulated foam.

I ordered Cubicon Single! I was bored last Thursday, and could not sleep and what is better than getting my 9th 3d printer lol thanks to you I loved the Cubicon Single on the video and can't wait until this Friday to get it

Nice move! The single is probably still my favourite printer ever tested. Be warned, it comes in a HUGE box and weighs a lot! A sturdy desk is a must.

+Maker's Muse I am just looking for an honest review for Makerbot replicator 5th generation. I bought one a year ago and I changed 3 extruders in 5 weeks it was very bad I returned it after 2 month .

+Angus - Nicely done. I have a question for you, though. If Joel prints this the size of a house, your lattice elements are going to be solid rods the diameter of your finger )or maybe arm). Is there a way to lattice the lattice (only)? I suspect if you go one level deeper, three levels, it may be possible. I'd hold off on the Joel print if this can be done... Bonus is one more August blitz video added to the pile, of you doing the three level latticing.

Haha that is some meta thinking, but yes! The thicker rods of the lattice would have the standard infill from the slicer :) I don't think my computer would survive if I tried to add even more smaller lattice elements!

Depends on the machine, but I usually aim for 60mm/s and go up or down from there depending on the print quality.

I remember seeing a video showing of some of the features in (I think) Netfabb Pro. The one that jumped out at me was structural lattice like infil. It looked very much like the infil you've made here, just with a little more finess - filets on all the joins more or less. Sadly I can't find that video now and can't see any reference to it anywhere when I googled...typical :)

Ahh, found it, it was Autodesk Within rather than Netfabb. It looks amazing, but there isn't a demo or anything. I think we can assume that means it costs *all* the money. www.autodesk.com/products/within/overview
