Quite interesting...I've done the short Y incision for probably 30 years or more. Now I am retired. If I still did competition type mounts, I would surely give that method a try. Nice to see women like you in the craft! Good job!

Buongiorno. Super 👍!!

Interesting. You're a great instructor. And I believe that deformity is called "dork". I shot a doe last year that had a bad case of it. That's when I learned about it.

I agree - you made that look easy. For removing the skin around the burr, order some #12 blades for your #3 handle and give it a try - it might change your life. Great content. :)

When you use a burr to burr, does that make doing the ears a lot harder? Or do you have to put the ears in first before you put the cape over the whole mount?
@dorianptero32558 ай бұрын
I can only do skull cleaning and hide tanning. The thing is I only do European mounts for hunters and stuff and I do like hide tanning and I sell that stuff. I unfortunately I can't do taxidermy mounts yet. How are you able to do that? Did you have to go to school and learn how to do it? Or did you teach yourself? Because if so it's very impressive and I'm definitely amazed and I hope maybe one day you could maybe teach me in the future how to do things like that?

In normally removing a skull plate is the rear cut straight up and down with the head in a “live” position and the front cut at a 90 deg angle to the rear cut?
@christinagordon23517 ай бұрын
What do you do with he rest of the pelt
@rob701TurkeyGuy Жыл бұрын
I always do a Y cut I'll have to try this burr to burr. Looks more challenging to get the skull plate off though

When you clay or eyes would you do that before you slid they cape on or after with this method?

Genuine curiosity here, on a human face, were have toNs of blood vessels, so damaging tissue tends to cause a lot of bleeding, however i noticed that there was barely any bleeding on this deer, xould you explain how or why

How do you measure neck measurements with this method? Flip it inside out and lay flat? Double the number?
@ashleyeve Жыл бұрын
Yes exactly! If you put both arms inside the “neck tube” you can get a good stretch out of it like that. And then yes just double the number

@breakfree4177 Жыл бұрын
Just curious, if it seems as though to be the superior way since it’s closely critiqued by judges and it has many other pros, why would you do any other method rather than burr to burr?
@ashleyeve Жыл бұрын
It can be a pain to have to skin around the burrs with such a small opening to work with. You need to have multiple tools at hand, and the process takes longer. So it can be really beneficial sometimes, but maybe not at all the time
