Shoot! Have I been pronouncing it incorrectly? I’ve said “oiler” my whole life! 😫😫🤣🤣

Hah. Maybe I am the one pronouncing it wrong. 🤷♀️

Euler is German so you are correct ("OY-ler"). European and Japanese skating pronounce it correctly but in North America "YOU-ler" is commonly used.

I love your videos!!! One request I have is for you to add the element you are showing to the beginning of the video. If that makes sense! ❤

Thanks! I'm trying to get back some of my skating skills. But, FS 8/9 is out of my abilities now! But, you explain your tutorials so it's easy to follow. I like your step by step teaching approach. And I like how you don't put the stress on age so much as the instruction of a jump, spin, footwork and MITF/ skating skills! I also like how you let us know that there's a video we can watch to educate ourselves so we can build up our skating skills. My friend found you online also so we can try the skating elements together for support. "Brackets is required for Adult Gold (MITF) Skating Skills as well as for USFS Pre-Sliver solo Freedance or ISI Silver Solo Freedance. Also, I hope to be back at " Skate at the Lake in June. For a warm-up for ISI Worlds and Showcase Nationals. I hope to see you at one or all of these events. I'll returning my Perpetual Trophy! I get to give it to some other lucky skater. Until, later see you. P.S. I am a Dinosaur, because I never learned my Axle or my Double Axle with my feet crossed over. But, I've taught myself all of my other jumps the cross over way. Do, you think I should try to learn it the modern way or just stay with the way that I'm use to. I'm relearning my jumps as well as my spins!

A year after I started competing in adult competitions in the US, as a Canadian adult skater, I started to learn the falling leaf before learning the half loop and after that I got my loop jump. The combos that were illegal in Adult competition at the Adult Bronze & Silver levels in Canada that I got to try to use while competing in the USA were; Waltz (W) + ½Lo + 1S, 1S + ½Lo + 1S, W + ½Lo + 1F and very rarely 1S + ½Lo + 1F. I never tried it with the Lutz or Toe Loop (Cherry Flip in USA). At the time I was just beginning to learn my Lutz jump. I stopped using the ½ Loop when I was competing more in Canada because we were only allowed 2 jump combos and ½ Loops made the combos back then Sequences and they were only worth .8% of 3 jumps put together. It wasn't worth the effort back then to use it. Adult Skaters and Star Skaters below Star 5 are only allowed 2 jumps in combos.

Now the ½Lo ( the Euler = 1Eu) when put between two other ISU listed jumps (Waltz jumps too but only in Adult skating) is worth the same as a 1Lo and the series of jumps with a the 1Eu (½Lo) is no longer devalue by .2 or 20% of the 3 jumps. It can really rack up the IJS TEC points. Watch the ISU Grand Prix FS circuit to see the Euler used in between Triple and Quad jumps.

I skated for a number of years. The problem I had was my scoliosis prevented me from staying straight in the air so I switch to ice dance. Worked my way up to the gold level.

Hmm, insteresting. I'm an artistic roller skater and we have this jump called Thoren that I think is supposed to be the Euler. But we're expected to do a full rotation on the Thoren and here it seems like with the Euler you just start backwards but turn forward before jumping. 🤔 Half thoren is pretty easy to me, but full-rotation seems impossible 😅

Most ice jumps except axel work that way. The blade is skating backwards and then turns forward and stabs the toe pick before leaving the ice, in that way the skater jumps forward forcefully. Even though that first half rotation is done on the ice it is still counted as part of the jump. Thus most "single" jumps are only a half rotation in the air.
