When I started studying your lesson "How to play Brazilia", I realized that I needed to practice and improve the ghost notes first. This lesson is just what I need . Thank you!

Wow! I'm late to the party on this one, but I LOVE IT. I'm a sucker for grooves with ghost notes. Eric, once again, thank you thank you.

Thanks. In the big band questions about pop/fiunk rhythms for bongo/conga perhaps you also can show that on other instruments but ...excelling on bongo and conga as you do also is great. Also use this for percussion in acoustic pop choirs and an acoustic partyband and street music band. I also use often: cajong, djembe, timbales, shakers, cowbells, jam blocks, bar chimes and combine percussion with a normal 4 to 5 piece or a basic 2 piece drum kit. There is many info on you tube regarding pop/funk/rock/blues/jazz drums but just very very small info for pop/funk/rock/blues/jazz percussion. Percussion is mostly demonstrated for latin music.

Nice presentation - Nice Repique ...... but where on the clave does it fall in?
@APercussionLife5 жыл бұрын
M Miranda this is a pattern more played for contemporary music.... I demonstrate where it is counted in 4 beats later in the video to help understand the placement of the pattern. Thanks!
@mmiranda17435 жыл бұрын
Gracias por responder!! But when you say "Played for contemporary music" are you saying pattern is not clave oriented? In other words is not within "Latin Music - or better yet no Cuban music?
@mmiranda17435 жыл бұрын
As you may know the "Bongo" is One part of the Ritmo Trilogy of Cuban Music - or as we call it here in USA Salsa.
@APercussionLife5 жыл бұрын
M Miranda That’s correct! Even though we all know Clave está siempre en el corazón! Jaja but this pattern is more focused on genres of funk and r&b... more Americanized genres.

I have a set of LP aspires with rawhide stock heads , will changing to remo give me a sound with less overtones ?
@APercussionLife5 жыл бұрын
Synthetic heads (Remo) actually help with projection, so you're gong to be more prone to get more overtones.
@leedsaxman5 жыл бұрын
@@APercussionLife so synthetic isn't the answer. Which heads would work to make the congas speak better.
@APercussionLife5 жыл бұрын
Lee Greene if you’re looking for a less over tone sound... a thicker skin will help (rawhide) but the shape and shell are what contribute to the tone as well... sooo those are things to consider

Really great lesson, Eric, but the background music during your explanations is not a good idea in my opinion, - it's more disturbing than helpful.
