You are amazing! You do the best sewing by hand than anyone I’ve ever seen! I am a follower and your work is just so beautiful!

Never thought before to try putting a thimble around the middle of my finger instead of the end. Interesting choice! I'll have to experiment with that idea some to see how it feels for me.

Marialla, that thimble is used traditionally for sashiko. It’s made from leather & has small indentations on it that the needle sits in. I have a few of those thimbles that I purchased in Japan. I have all Yoko Saito’s books though most are written in Japanese and have met her many times and taken classes with her in Japan.

I came across one get book and can immediately tell the patterns are hand piecing. I asked my sister to get one of her patchwork book for my birthday. I struggle with my sewing machine to see straight. I made machine pieced backing of is always not helped by pressed foot being crooked. After removing the guard of should be little easier. I brought gauge foot this too didn't wasn't straight but can alter into something. Being multi skilled has benefits. I really want give hand piecing a go the whipped stitch on EPP can be slow and hard on the hands.

Does she cut a length of thread or just pull off the spool until she is done with a section does she go back and backstitch the first stitches?

Kzoo Kid thank you but I seen that video but in this video she does not start with a back stitch here like she does in the log cabin one that was the reason for my question.
