****READ THIS IF U WANT AN AUSTRALIAN ACCENT**** As an Australian, a lot of the things he says is exaggerated a lot. (no hate, just some pointers) If you were to say "like", you wouldn't say the "oi" sound, you would say the "iye" sound. for example, "liyke". Focus on the "iye" sound when you say the word, but don't over-do it. Honestly, the word "like" doesn't really change at all from an american accent. You would definitely still say the "ing" in "saying", getting rid of the g is an exaggeration. Do not get rid of the "ing" sound, we still say the ing. Don't worry too much about the inflections because it comes naturally. The way he is teaching an australian accent is very bogan. you can search that word up but it basically means people from the lower classes and areas of australia, like the REALLY aussie people. normal aussie people don't have that tang that he is using. If you really want to learn a proper australian accent; focus more on speaking from the front of your throat, not that back. you will notice in an american accent, you speak from the back of your throat, focus of just speaking from the front of your throat. pay attention to the "er"s and turn then into "uh" like "buttuh" not "butteR" be careful not to exaggerate the "uh", you will sound fake. we pretty much get rid of any "r" sound and turn it into an "a". practice saying the word "are" but just say the sound "ah" MAKE SURE to say the "ah" not in an american accent, make sure it comes from the front of your throat. when you say "no", make sure not to say "naur" though lol. say "noWh" i think margot robbie has the best australian female accent, and men usually tend to have a more stronger accent than women so i'd say the hemsworth brothers are a good example of a male australian accent. thats all for now. i wish you the best of luck!!

As an Aussie who's lived in the US and developed a US accent, then moved to England and got twisted up again, then came back home and eventually sounded somewhat local again, this is pretty accurate. Kudos on the express course. I personally don't sound quite like this, but I absolutely agree that it's an accurate representation of the general Aussie sound and a good way to understand and sound it out effectively.

This video represents a very broad Australian accent. Like a very Hugh Jackman and Chris Hemsworth accent. Most Australians don't sound like this. But the inflection at the end of sentences is correct for most Australians.

As an Aussie, what I hear in this video is the Steve Irwin Ocker Outback version of our accent as that is quite different and much broader than the metropolitan version heard in most capital cities. I imagine it could be similar to the difference between a Texan drawl and a Bostonian accent. However, I have not paid attention to my daily accent lately so thanks for the heads up….I will hang around my mirror and tell my self to butter my bread and vegemite before getting on my boike and going to the servo and see what it sounds like. 😂

I'm from one of the larger australian cities, and although I think this is fairly accurate, I do want to point out that there are multiple australian accents. My accent has much less of an upward inflection near the end of sentences and I use the ng sound, to name a few differences. If you want to fit in with australians, this might not be quite the right video, but for that classic Steve Irwin accent, this pretty much covers the basics. Good work.

Another useful one to mention is that many hard “t” sounds, like in American “butter”, becomes more like a “d” sound for the Australian accent, which he did automatically when he was talking about the “er” becoming “ah”: “buddah” 1:55 This “t” to “d”, (usually in the middle of words) can help with those who trying not to accidentally sound British/English. American: “buttur, mattur, watur” Australian: “buddah, meddah, woaddah” British English: “but’ah, mat’ah, wot’ah” / or “buttah, mattah, watah” if more posh.

Anyway, the one from Bulgaria had such a strong accent and said hi and talked first. And then I said hi and stuff and unintentionally in some weird accent. Wasn't Bulgarian--but it wasn't how I normally spoke either lol. Just kind of picked up longer/lazier vowel sounds if that makes sense? And then I realized and was like whoa I feel weird. That's why I came to this vid though because I really want to learn other accents! I wanna be able to speak in another accent in such a natural tone. Hey, quick note: when talking in an Australian accent one of the only differences between the Australian accent and New Zealand accent is the pronunciation of e in words like where or yeah. When you said the word where you were pronouncing this sound how it is pronounced with a more kiwi influence. In the Australian accent its important to soften this sound and in general talk smoother.

I am Aussie, and this video was actually right! I am so glad he didn't start saying something about "shrimp on the barbie" bc we do not cook shrimp on the barbie all the time, and we don't even call them shrimp. They are prawns. K? And we chop the ends of every word. Fun fact, I don't hear my accent until I am around people who aren't Aussie, then I'm like "Oh wow, I sound bogan" lol Btw, I don't say loike but I say Noice all the time:):):)

Hahaha! General Australia knowledge... We do have shrimps and prawns, but no, we don't put them on the Barbie.

Yes, what the f***. We don't swear alot. We are normal people who swear when we're mad. Not every goddamn second! And also, I hate people who are saying "Noice" in the comments. It hurts me to read them.

As an Aussie who's lived in the UK and developed a UK accent, then moved to US and got twisted up again, then came back home and eventually back to the US for the last 16 years... you sound exactly like an American doing an Aussie accent.
