Always been a huge fan of Leo, such a versatile actor who has taken on some very challenging and diverse roles. Many of course know Titanic, or Gilbert Grape but there are others very few Americans have seen like playing Arthur Rimbaud in Total Eclipse which was such a bold move. I love him in Basket Ball Diaries which was gritty. I make my acting students study his scenes .. how he uses breath, emotion for example in crying scenes. Love all the great content on The Actor's Academy channel as the approach is nearly the same as my own and I make my students do Actor's Cookbook and many of the tools here. I thank you Actors Academy for being a great video supplement to my own teaching practice. If more aspiring actors would just watch great acting, not only tv/film but stage productions (many are up here on KZbin). and expand their reading and vocabulary skills, that can help them go far I'm always amazed when I get new students over the age of 20 that never heard of Arthur Miller, Noel Coward, Terrance McNally etc. Watch and learn.

News flash: There is no such thing as "the Irish Accent". Certain common features may be found in some but not all of the numerous accents that can be found on the island of Ireland. The "Irish Accents" created by Hollywood actors and their imitators almost always sound inauthentic because they start with the false premise that there's a singular way of speaking that characterises all of us. But, if it tickles you to mimic the fake and mildly offensive leprechaun accent, then knock yourself out.

In my opinion method acting is better . Leonardo dicaprio only did method acting in the Revenant, on all other of his movies of his you can see leo on all his character. But in revenent he is unrecognisable.

I actually learned recently that method is just using a method to portray a character and it isnt exclusive to taking on a role on & off the set and embodying that character on set, it could be simply reading up on the character deeply or even using a type of prop to put you more in sync. Kind of smashed my view of what i thought Method was originally.

Maybe its me but since acting is literally pretending to be a fictional or real role, its really just bad vs great acting to me since its all fake lol. Id also say a lot of subtle acting is some of the most amazing skills and its nothing to do with some outburst or something extreme. Denzel & even Ben Afleck, James McAvoy are really great at subtleties and its great acting.

Man this makes acting sound so easy. But boy oh boy is it difficult ones you have lines and have to stay on track. I study meisner and am great when we improv and just react. But add in the lines while still being authentic and following instincts.. it’s like using both sides of your brain at once

Seems to me why most actors don't make it is because the powers that be only want a small number of actors to rise to the very top who will generate large box office revenue. Later they're replaced with a select few who will do the same.

I can't believe the softening your palate trick was what I've been doing a few times already. I thought I was just crazy and making up my own thing that's why I didn't fully do it before, and I didn't know that it was a thing. Until I saw this video. And I tried it again fully, and tears did fall down my cheeks 😆

I have a different perspective on the Wahlberg part. I feel his delivery was of a comedic/sarcastic tone, which also coincides with his real personality, which i think he does good. Like you said it could also be directors direction. The following examples lead me to believe that each particular character was trying to achieve something similar. As we seen actors display funny characters i.e mr bean/Michael scott. I wonder if you like comedies, an if so i would also love to see you dissect your favorite comedies, just so i can gauge/compare views.

I like watching method acting much more. It is pure exquisite art and beauty when an actor really dissolves himself into the character. It is beautiful, it is mind-blowing! Daniel DL's acting in this video was totally unreal and sooooo unbelievably realistic!! However, having said all that, I would never ever advise method acting, unless someone really enjoys doing it, because it can be very destructive.

Mad respect for all actors! Regardless how do you get yourself in tears, you are going to physically embody any emotion the character needs to feel, you are literally lending your body to someone else, and physically mimicking an emotion does affect your own emotions, and probably your inner world on the long term. I also think of sexy telephone lines operators: I've heard that after faking the same emotion on cue all day long for years on end, they struggle with actually feeling that emotion in their own real lives. And what might happen when you are actually going through a lot in your personal life, but you must go and shoot a scene with a complete different emotion, leaving everything else aside? I mean yes, as a therapist I do that all the time, as soon as my patient starts to tell me about themselves, I forget about my stuff and deep dive into their story and feelings probably the same way an actor does with their character, but I'm not onscreen for millions of people to see, and I haven't happened to go through really big emotional challenges while having to work, since I was not working when my baby was in the NICU for example. Most people sees acting career as a bed of roses and actors as privileged people, but it must be tough. Mad respect to all actors, Hollywood stars, Bollywood stars, theater performers and especially all those insanely talented people out there who will never get enough recognition.

What heath did there..the character he built..if it was achievable through natural acting or whatever..josh for thanos would have received an oscar already😂..I meant just come on,put your thoughts out but don't decide by all yourself whether what was done can be done or become so great by comparing different methods.
