Oh man. IF ONLY I had found your channel earlier I would just binge watch your videos cause they are sometimes silly and fun at the same time! But really thanks a lot. I'm pretty sure I would make a lot of dumb mistakes because of not knowing so many differences even though my English isn't bad either in my opinion (which might change quickly :D). Tomorrow is the D day so I hope I will get my B2 certificate but before I know the results I have to wait WEEKS. I still think, that the waiting will be more stressful than the exam alone. Still wish me luck! And thanks for the silly characters, I think I'm going to recall their reactions with a smile on my face :D

😂Haha, that is always the way things work! One bit of advice before the exam then! You find *out* information. You *find* an object (a youtube channel in this case!). You can find *out* about something's existence (which is information), so you could also say "why have I found out about your channel", or "why have I found your channel". I hope you find that useful! And thanks for the compliment 🥳 Good luck!

@@SMASHEnglish i don't know!! There were no phrasal verbs, maybe 1 or 2(i'd spent lot of time learning them😭). It wasn't so difficult but neither easy. I had planned my essay as you said, "not only but also, 2 conditional.....(god bless you). It lasts an eternity and is very stressful. Also you have to think very quickly for the short time😤. However i hope i' ve done it well.

@@SMASHEnglish btw, could you explain or make a video on how to differentiate prefixes in and un, please? Internet says that it depends on Latin or Germanic the word is. But its impossible to remember and know all, anyway
@SMASHEnglish
@SMASHEnglish 3 жыл бұрын
@@eko7848 I am going to disappoint you, Caitlin 😂. I remember when I first started teaching English, I bought an entire book on suffixes and prefixes. And then half way through reading the book I realised "if a 400 page book is needed to explain these rules, it's probably more complicated to understand the rules than simply learn the words". A classic example of that would be learning the Germanic or Latin origins of words to understand whether to us an un- (Germanic) or in- (Latin) prefix. Why do you want to know? Do you want to make things easier for yourself? Or is it for part 3 of the Use of English FCE exam?
@eko7848
@eko7848 3 жыл бұрын
@@SMASHEnglish i'm here. Ohh, I need to know that for exams, because its possible to simply add Not in speech. Those prefixes are everywhere in tests and exams. its like a lottery
@SMASHEnglish
@SMASHEnglish 3 жыл бұрын
@@eko7848 You're right, it is. So I think it's best to understand which words often come up in the exam you're taking. For the FCE (just as an example) there are often the same types of words that come up in every exam.

Hmmm, no. Then you are changing the meaning. "Like" here is used to mean "for example". "By" would mean "and the form in which they do this is..." For example: I wanted to impress her by showing her my muscles! "I wanted to impress her, and the form this took was showing her my muscles". I wanted to impress her. I wanted to do something like showing her my muscles. "I wanted to impress her. I wanted to do something. For example: showing her my muscles". I hope that helps.
