Hi Toby, could you explain me which tense should we use after would/ if would please... I want to pass the exam haha 📚🙏
@SMASHEnglish3 жыл бұрын
Hmmm, I don't understand the question? After WOULD we need to use an infinitive. We could say: would have + past participle for an imaginary past. would be + ing for an imaginary ongoing situation in the present or future. would + infinitive for... many things. But you are lucky! I have a video all about WOULD for B2 First 😂: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3undZSiapuGfrs

Fantastic program! Just one question, the key word in first question is BEEN, but the correct answer is “If I hadn’t watched SMASHEnglish” which didn’t include the key word BEEN. Is something wrong with the key word? Thanks for your reply in advance:)
@SMASHEnglish4 жыл бұрын
Hey Stella! Watch from 3:02, I explain that our original sentence was in the past continuous, so we need to use the past perfect continuous and not the past perfect. So "I was watching" becomes "If I hadn't been watching". Thanks a lot for the comment, and I hope that helped!

Hi toby! I have a question about the description on title that your video. Part 3 of the exam is Word formation and part 4 is Key word transformation. So, you said part 4, but it is part 3, isn't?
@SMASHEnglish3 жыл бұрын
Hello! Aaaaaah! I see your point. My title says word transformations instead of KEY word transformation? These exercises are part 4 of the Use of English - not part three.
@Master-lv6bh4 жыл бұрын
Is “Had felt like watching” incorrect?
@SMASHEnglish4 жыл бұрын
Yes because then you are changing the past simple to the past perfect, which changes the meaning of the second sentence. If you use the past perfect it suggests the desire to watch SMASH English stopped when she was with her boyfriend. That both sentences are in the past simple ("feel like" is a state so cannot be in a continuous tense) suggests that the desire to watch SMASH English was happening at the same time that she was with her boyfriend. I hope that helps!

is it a mistake if i write at the first one I hadn't been to watch?

Yes! This is the past perfect continuous and so you need to use the -ing form after "been".

"He warned me not watch" or "He warned me not to watch" Which one is correct?
