Hm. At the end it was disappointing to see, that "using the free app" zu stack the sequential photos is sending your data to some page in the net. Apart from the data safety issues - it does not work without network connection. Appears, that there is no programme to do that on Android systems, even if it were a bit sloppy and did not reach the quality of a real stacking software.

True & agreed. You raise a valid point. Maybe what they say is true. "There are no free software based lunches." But I am inclined towards believing that only enthusiasts & hobbyists would use phones to take photos & may not have that great of an issue with using "unsafe" software. Professionals who have cost & privacy values tied to their photos would be using professional systems & workflows. There could be exceptions or I could be completely wrong. Similarly, there could be an app which does it, but I haven't come across it yet. If I find one, I will reply & add an update to your comment. As far as i know there's nothing on Android that does the focus stacking processing part, apparently it takes a little bit too much juice to run on a phone (for now). However, there *IS* free software that can do that part on computers, I've done it on Linux before with Enfuse.

Correct. There could be free software for Windows as well, however since I'm already in the Luminar Neo ecosystem, I used that in the video. I think it's the acquisition part that's more challenging, processing has multiple option. Thanks for bringing Enfuse to my notice though.

Nice video. Doing it with a phone really lowers the barrier to entry besides needing a tripod .

Yes. To this day I don't have a 'proper' camera that clicks photos. I only have Blackmagics for videos. So I'm a phone photographer. Plus I believe tripods are kinda necessary. And since phones are small & light, you really don't need those heavy duty tripods, a starter good quality one would suffice & those have gotten pretty affordable by now. Thank you for this video! I am new to this channel. Before this, I knew nothing about focus bracketing though I have heard about it but watched it working on mobile phone for the first time. I liked the video and tried this method on Realme 11 pro. It worked like a charm. A small suggestion from my side would be that you can lower the background music volume a bit so that whatever you speak is clearly audible. Subscribed!

@theworldofcool It's for a work thing and they might want to use an app which is more secure. I'm assuming this isn't as secure because in the second step we have to access the internet to upload the photos.

Can you use a computer & something like Photoshop or Lightroom? These software can also help focus stack images in just a few clicks, you don't need Luminar Neo per se.

Hi, I have tried this on my Google pixel 8 pro and the open camera does not use the macro objective, only the normal one... Do you know if it's possible to use the macro objective?

In settings you need to enable Camera API2 to get access to some of the features. :)

Yeah it's ok for focus bracketing , But Can't taking photos in fast shutter speed raw it's just shutting down .

@@theworldofcool I'm using Redmi note 9 pro , when I take a photo jpeg + DNG with 100 or 200 iso and shutter speed around 1/200th , it is crashing .

Maybe it's the stress of capturing DNGs. Disable that & check once please.

The RAW option is not there anymore. The settings have changed big time. Can you please do an update if you want to use RAW settings what do you do now?

Hello Hanzo. Go to settings & find the Camera API menu. Make sure Camera2 API is enabled. That'll enable all the advanced options & settings. Let me know if that helped. Waiting.

I have tried it on an LG V50. That's the oldest phone I have. In fact that's the phone you see in the video as well. For this very reason of compatibility, I shoot all videos on that phone & not the Galaxy S22 Ultra which is my main phone.

At 6:08 are you sure the bracketing source is the background limit and the bracketing target is the foreground limit? Isn't it the opposite? I mean isn't the: Bracketing Source (Source Distance): This is the foreground limit. It represents the closest point to the camera that is in focus. It's where the focus bracketing starts. Bracketing Target (Target Distance): This is the background limit. It represents the furthest point from the camera that is in focus at the end of the focus bracketing sequence. Could you please clarify? I think it matters a lot since the purpose of the whole video is to understand the Focus Stacking... :)
