Both are great options. If you are interested in having a metal yoyo I suggest you go with the Dash Players Pack, otherwise stick with the Whip Players Pack. In my experience both yoyos will last you a long time, and both play great for the price. You really can't go wrong either way.

The Velocity should be able to take you quite far. However, if you feel that you really need an upgrade I would suggest either the Dark Magic 2 or the DV888, but are very great options for the price, and we have them both on YoTricks. If you live in the US they both include free shipping as well.

I would say they are both a 7. I would recommend the DM2 if it is your first yoyo over $20 because it is a little wider and a little more versatile than the DV888. If you really are interested in going for a metal yoyo, however, the DV888 is a great option. The finish on the yoyo is great for grinding as well, which is not so true of the DM2. We carry both on YoTricks and if you live in the US they come with free shipping. We also have short write-ups about each on the YoTricks website.

It could, but you would have to be pulling pretty hard, and you would definitely see it start to turn at least a little before it dies. What kind of yoyo are you using?

When the yoyo flips over one half turn during the flop it also makes the yoyo spin the opposite direction (relatively speaking). This means that you will need to bind on the opposite side of the string.

We will not be adding hubstacks to the Civility, but I have seen mods for hubstacking other yoyos, like the DV888, that would work for the Civility.

Is it possible you are pushing the double string against the wrong side of the yoyo? If you did the yoyo would resist turning and the strings would pop off the sides.

I just pulled out my Velocity and did 3 complete rotations with a casual throw. It does require a lighter touch than other yoyos, though. I am not sure it is the best yoyo for learning this trick, but it certainly can be done.

To get a yoyo to sleep longer on the string you need to make sure that the strings are not touching the sides of the yoyo. If the strings are touching the sides of the yoyo it will kill the spin very quickly. As long as you are keeping the strings straight in line with the groove of the yoyo you will find that the yoyo can sleep just as long on the string as it can off the string.

How do you guys dismount the flop without knotting when you do multiple rotations? Every time I do more than one rotation I get a knot in the line, no matter how I dismount. I've even let the yoyo stop so I could inspect the line to see if there's a way to get off without knotting, and I don't see any. Any tips?

Roger Zuniga This yoyo can work with a Grind Machine yoyo. If the spin is dying after only 1 turn, and you are doing the plastic whip mount, then that either means that you are pulling the strings too hard, or that your yoyo is not spinning fast enough to begin with. It could also mean that you are not touching the sides of the yoyo in the right place with the double strings.

the way i get into a gyro flop is i juts get into a Houdini mount, bounce the yoyo onto the middle string, and grab the strings and pull really tight, is that the same as the kamikaze mount one?

I've got loads. Tried it on a MYY N12, MYY M002, Yoyofficer Orbis, Auldey Air Cut, YYF Czech Point and got similar results. I keep finding if I don't pull tight, nothing happens, if I pull too tight it spins wildly and is dead in seconds. Really can't figure out that balance!

You only need to pull tight enough to keep the strings taut (or maybe a tiny bit more than that). Then you control the yoyo by how you push the strings into the sides of the yoyo.

The rubber piece allows the brain mechanism to return the yoyo to your hand automatically. If you remove the rubber piece the yoyo will not return automatically, but it will sleep a little longer.

So I can get the yoyo to do the flop, but I have trouble getting out of the flop. I look to see which side the strings are on, but it always has a twist on it when I tried to get the strings out and it just gets tangled

There will always be a twist. If you pull the string off the yoyo on the proper side then the twists will disappear. If you pull it off on the wrong side it will give you a knot. For now I suggest you just count the number of rotations so you know for sure which side of the yoyo to pull the string off of.
