My seven year old son just got a cheap Spider-Man yo-yo for Christmas and has been struggling to throw it. I remember playing around with yo-yos a little bit as a kid not really learning any tricks. You are the first video we watched to try and help him out, then you brought out the reactive yo-yo ...and this is a game changer. I never knew this existed! I just ordered 2 yo-yo factory ones. they shall arrive in a week. Also I had a good chuckle when you did the Eiffel tower with the “wink wink” he didn’t get it and asked me why I was laughing.🤦🏻‍♂️ we subscribed and once our yo-yos come will be watching more of your instructional trick videos. Funny, I'm here the same. My 5 year old has a Miraculous yo-yo that we played with a bit, but it's just a toy and not designed to work well. But it reminded me I used to be able to do a few tricks as a kid, but nothing fancy and always wanted to get better. So I'll be shopping for some better yo-yos for us online tonight!

So I was doing a forward pass just pointing my hand to the side. It felt wrong doing breakaway. I was doing that since I can remember. Now that the tricks are getting harder I had to fix my wrong breakaway to the correct breakaway. I always had trouble doing a trapeze with forward pass to start with...

The breakaway is one odd movement to learn but it's important. I promise it feels really awkward for a lot of us at first. Sadly, the best way to learn is to keep trying and soldier on through the weird arm cramps.

@@I_am_a_Cat_Miauz Sorry for a late reply. YT didn't notify me. It is an okay yoyo to start out. Good for learning the basics and seeing if you want to continue. Advanced tricks are very hard on ONE cause of its high walls, non uniform weight distribution of plastics and low spin time and stability. The Overlord TS is better tha ONE and Velocity. Loop 360 is for 2A so that's a completely diff thing

You can start with aa non-responsive yoyo...however, I don't recommend it. It's essential you properly use a responsive yoyo at first to get the feel of how it should be properly thrown, that the stronger throw will give you a longer spin time, and in my opinion, a better flow/style to your tricks in the future. BUT, if you really want to get a non-responsive yoyo only, then you must learn how to do the yoyo trick "Bind". It is the only way to get the yoyo back to your hand. :) Good luck and hope this helps!

honestly, those yoyos are good. Personally, what I did was go down the path of buying magic yoyos because they're dirt cheap and still work pretty well. You're kinda at that awkward stage where your yoyo is good enough but you're just looking for fun yoyos to use on the side.

I know you wrote this 6 months ago, but I think it comes down to 1) How you are throwing it and 2) how you are winding it up. Make sure everything is straight, like as it is in your hand and the throw itself. And try to not have too much string sticking out when you wind it up. Generally you wrap it around your finger once and then under a few times then you can take your finger away.
