My sliding miter saw has this method in the instructions and it was so foreign to me that I didn't even consider it. That makes a nice joint. Thanks, I'm giving it a try.

Pretty funny watching this early video from four years ago to your videos now. You are a like a broadcast expert now compared to this video. Good for you. Love all of your videos.

Thank you for this video! I was looking for a video that showed how to do this.

Very good video ! Thanks. I am a DIY beginner wood worker and I believe that using a miter saw to cut half laps is actually safer than using a table saw. I don't want to sound like a woosy, I just want to keep all of my fingers. Just me ! ! Cheers from Canada,Polar Bear country.

Just found your channel and glad to have had my dusty lumber cherry popped. Great, no fuss content man. Picked up some nice live edge oak boards today and gonna be making a couple of Mirror frames for my sister for xmas. Want to sandwich some Welsh slate from a roofing job they had done, between the laps and using dowels to fix. Thank you - have subscribed.

I sooooo wish I’d watched this video BEFORE starting my project today, I spent aaaaaaaaaaages adjusting the depth stop up and down and measuring the depth of cut instead of just pulling the blade down and lining the edge of the tooth with my mark. #newb #rookie

Good explanation on how to use SMS to do half-lap joints. Genuine question: Wouldn't it be easier and quicker to combine 2 pieces of wood together and then do 2 half-laps at the same time? Or is there a problem with that?
@dustylumberco5 жыл бұрын
LochSween thanks! Ya you could combine two for sure 👍 For the video I just showed doing one at a time

Which model of makita sliding saw had a depth stop ? I need to cut flat based mortises or trenches into 4x4 inch to enable mortise and tenon joints. Thank you.

How did you make the cuts on the legs? Table saw?
@dustylumberco5 жыл бұрын
Paul Chavez yes table saw - I had the camera set up and thought I recorded it but I must have not pushed the record button 🤷♂️. I’ll have to make a vid next time I do it

@@dustylumberco figuring how how to do those cuts on a miter saw and showing us would be cool! Look like it would require holding the piece perpendicular to the fence with isn't advised, but maybe it would work 😀

Instructions do tell you to clamp wood not hold it.
