nice video carlito im about to buy a 2015 mercedes c300 and was praying it had a drain plug instead of having to buy an expensive oil extractor. Thanks for the video and hardwork. And they "recommend" mobil 1 bc they have a contract with them just like bmw in the 2000s which dropped castrol and now they recommend shell. oil is oil like you said my man.

I’m going use a oil pump through the dipstick. I did it on my 2014 caravan this because the drain plug was probably put on with impact drill and stripped out. But the pump made it so much easier and oil filter was in similar location. Thanks for the video.
@brosolution4 жыл бұрын
That's a good option using the pump great job man
@TimourRashed Жыл бұрын
What kind of retard or dipshit would using an IMPACT drill on the drain plug? Most of them are plastic and should be only done with a special shaped hand tool if you want to be fancy or a simple ratchet wrench. If the argument is speed, the plug turns like 5 times clockwise.
@EndofDays2135 жыл бұрын
He has a point about the gloves.
@TimourRashed Жыл бұрын
No he doesn’t. It’s not more manly to not use gloves. It is on the other hand a wuss thing to allow your skin to absorb the chemicals from the oil. A true mechanic or someone who knows what they’re doing can: 1) not get any oil on their hands 2) even if they did get oil on their hands, their skin would repel the chemical For people who don’t understand how to control your skin absorption and not take in the chemicals, then sure wear gloves It’s not a manly/unmanly thing, it’s having control of your body to not absorb chemicals

My new 2018 C300 has the 2.0 liter turbo 4 cylinder engine. The manual specifically calls for SAE 5W-40 motor oil with the MB 229.5 specification. I buy the Mercedes-Benz 5W-40 oil at the MB parts department.
@busyb56435 жыл бұрын
Yes this is true but when you use mobil 1 it's 0 40w that's the difference when you switch brands

I when by the specifications in the mb program an it rec 8 1/2 qts but thats only for this model...and yes you always change the gasket on the oil filter...keep it up its so fun learning to fix your own stuff ✌

Thanks for your fast reply! What I need to do next is change the brake pads in the rear, they have a brake wear sensor, does this always need to be replaced along with the pads? Thanks for your help. Sub'd (Btw I know your'e supposed to change pads and rotors at the same time, but right now the rotors seem fine).
@brosolution6 жыл бұрын
@@AlxDBuor Yea the brake pad sensor always brakes :b so you have to change it..those rotors last for few years so its ok if you only replace the pads...although some cars may have some squeaking sounds when braking due to the cristal code the gets on the rotors after braking for some years if you only change the pads just keep that in mind...stay safe and in the future if you need help you know where to find me

Is it the same process on 2018 C300? I see a lot of videos on changing oil for W205 but they all use a mighty Vac to take out the oil.

What is the difference between 0w40 5w40 and 5W-30 full synthetic ? I have 2015 c300 and it just states MB 229.5 specification . So I can use any of these oils by mobile 1 as long as its full synthetic? I was going to try the 0w40 mobil 1 syn european car formula.

I''m about to do my first oil change at home and I was recommended to put in 7.4 quarts of oil. Also, did you change the O rings on the oil filter? I saw someone else in a DYI video doing it. Either way your video gave me a good idea of the general process. I use mobile one because it is recommended and it's not like there is a major price difference between engine oils.
@spreadeagled56545 жыл бұрын
D. , yes you DO change the O rings. Also, you change the washer on the drain plug.

How you change the trans I can’t find the dipstick
@brosolution5 жыл бұрын
It doesn't have a dipstick there is a side hole where you can check the level and to fill up the trans you have to used like a little pump to put the fluid inside its kinda hard to xplain ill probably make a video soon bro!
@marcsmith38815 жыл бұрын
It is not so easy for the DIY. It requires a way to fill the transmission with an adaptor, pump, drain the torque converter and it has to drained at a specific temperature to set the correct level. I see some people touch the pan while it is running and then drain when it is warm. That is quite risky for a deep 4 figure transmission. I was a tech for several years and have serviced them for 19 years this year. I always used a scantool when doing this service so I can see the fluid temp. Depending on the little plastic pipe color, will determine which drain temperature. Also the fluid color changed from red to blue in mid 2010.
@marcsmith38815 жыл бұрын
@You Wish Actually the Blue transmission fluid is used in models from mid 2010+. I have the equipment to do the job properly and do them quite often with 2 scheduled next week. A laser thermometer is not very accurate with outside temps near freezing like when I do them here in NY winters. I prefer the scantool. Believe me, I know what they do at the dealers. I worked in 2 for several years, but it doesn't make it the correct way to do it. There is a specific temperature spec for a reason. That slight variation can cause problems in extreme temperatures. I have many years of servicing these vehicles.
@marcsmith38815 жыл бұрын
@You Wish I wasn't trying to get technical. Just sticking to the facts. I personally don't care what the viscosity is and never said anything about using the blue in the older vehicles. I use what the vehicles call for based on the Model year. Since I own a repair business, I don't take unnecessary risks especially when I know better. I am sure you can get a Chinese Version of Xentry. Good luck with that. Uptight when it comes to the life blood of a very expensive transmission? Ok buddy. You keep doing what you are doing. I have a full page on my website of 100s of Mercedes repairs I have done. I am sure you can produce the same. Any person, with average comprehension, can read something and regurgitate online.
@marcsmith38815 жыл бұрын
@You Wish People get away with a lot of things. I can almost have a side business from all of the people I have bailed out from watching videos and things didn't go as planned. You can tell people whatever you wish. Fortunately, there are plenty of people with more money than time and don't choose to be under a vehicle for hours when they can pay someone. You are talking about the balance shafts where MB had a class action lawsuit against them for the early M272 & M273 engines. I don't personally do them, but I have 2 Master techs that I pay to do them. Many 722.6 and 722.9 transmissions are replaced unnecessarily when the speed sensor goes bad on the conductor plate. Most commonly the Turbine sensor on the 722.9. I send them out to be repaired so their is no need for SCN coding.

I see different answers in the comments , but I just got a 2016 C300 4matic . If this was your car, which brand and oil weight would you use? Also what brand oil filter would you use?
@marcsmith38815 жыл бұрын
I use MANN, Mahle or HENGST oil, air and cabin filters since they make them for Mercedes. If you pull out an OEM filter, it will have one of their exact same part numbers just with the 3 pointed star as the only difference. As for oil, I use Castrol Edge 0W40, Mobil 1 Euro 0W40, Liqui Moly 5W40, etc. Just make sure whatever you use, it clearly says meets MB Spec 229.5. I will be changing all of the filters in a 2015 C300 4Matic on Sunday.

Amsoil 5W40 European formula. Meets MB spec👍🏻
@marcsmith38815 жыл бұрын
It definitely meets MB Spec 229.5 which is the latest for gas engines. I have had an Amsoil account for 14 years and have used the oil in 100s of Mercedes vehicles. I just saw one, an 05 C240 I have serviced since new and it has lived on Amsoil for 200K miles. As of 12/12/19, Amsoil is on the list of approved oils for Mercedes. The 5W40 is I noticed. bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevolisten/229.5_en.html
