In between Eric, my inspiration. I started in February this year. Because of the corona, I thought starting playing an instrument. Oh man, what a good decision. Thanks corona. Most of all thanks to you, Eric. Your way of playing, your way of teaching, talking. Your performance is perfect. Please, never stop your teaching. You r , I think for many people inspiring. I do learn already so many things on conga S. In my time there was no internet. You can say a lot of bad things about internet, but there are so many more good things about this. It gives me a lot of pleasure and inspiration. Ok, I stop now, thanks my friend. A lot of love from holland👌🙏🏿

I had the good fortune of inviting La Mole to Arizona to perform a percussion clinic. The guy had an impeccable vocabulary - he played for an hour without replicating the rhythms. Mixing the bells pattern into his repertoire his creativity was endless. We became very good friends and shared some memorable rumbas together...

Hey Eric! I'm eating, sleeping and drinking tumbaos...........:-). I truly never realised there were so many variations on a theme. My favourite is the Armando Peraza rhythm because that really swings and just connects. Another uplifting and inspiring video, your love and passion for the history and personalities of the congas is infectious and a joy to behold. Also, the overhead cam shots are very useful. God bless you and gratitude for your time and commitment . Blair.
great video. it’s not only instructional but also an insight into conga music roots. Having fun learning this tumbao, can’t leave the drums until i get the mechanics of it, at least. lol

Hey Eric, could you do a tutorial video on how to play congas and bongo. Not at the same time but seperately. The groove I am looking for is on Gamirey's song " Amor Perfecto". You can find here on youtube. I am talking about the sound when the bongos come in. There is a slap that sounds really high pitch. Not sure if it is the congas or bongos or if they do it together. Please check out the song and please do a video. Thanks and GBU.

The T-shirt is quite appropriate. Bongo instructions and Spanish subtitles?yuo must be out of your mind and all this hard work and time? Sheesh, when do you take that conga Pkaying Rumbero beatufiful boy of your's to the park? What about quality time with Wifey, working to pay rent and putting rice and beans on the table? Thing is I don't want you getting overwhelmed, exhausted, burned out and kick out of the house . I'm very happy with 2 conga lessons a week. Dude, I can barely keep up with one. Give me time to digest, process, meditate and reflect . Some have no idea how much it takes for you to be consistent , responsible and keep it real like you do. Another great video Eric - thank you very much. I was with you all the way until you mentioned the clave and now I'm horribly confused so I'm hoping you can help me get my head round it. The tumba falls on the second hit on the 3-side so, if I've got this right, that would mean that this pattern begins with the standard palm, finger, slap, finger, palm, finger on the 2-side...is that correct? And if so, why not start the pattern there? Thanks Andy :)
@APercussionLife6 жыл бұрын
sambaManniom you’re absolutely right.... but when I was referencing the clave... I wasn’t indicating when the pattern begins... it was more so just stating where the Tumba would land.... here’s the original video if you would like to see... thank you though... I should have been more clear! kzbin.info/www/bejne/aarUcn2KgrusetE
@sambaManniom6 жыл бұрын
Cheers Eric. I'm still confused tho' - if it's 2/3 why wouldn't it start on the 2-side? Sorry man :)

To me it seems that two open tones on tumba fall in 2 side of 2-3 clave, not 3 side. Please correct me if I am wrong. The pattern also starts before the first beat. The first slap is actually the first beat, while open and palm (first two moves) on quinta are immidiatelly before the first beat.

Eric is was a tough one to learn and I’ll definitely be able to slide this into many songs. Took me about a week off and on real slowly until it makes sense. The biggest thing I pick up from your videos is using the proper handing techniques and timing. This rhythms forces you to use several types of strokes like close slap, open slap, heel tip, a touch and open tones. That a full deck of handing techniques and will definitely challenge any percussionist. I love the challenge so keep bringing em. I’m about to drop a service that I pay for but very seldom use. I already subscribe to your channel but will look to send you some funds to get better input from your channel. I spend a lot of time following you my brother. Let me know what I can do.😎🪘
