How did you get the bolts out for the carrier bearing they are just spinning for me
@Glennfix6 ай бұрын
They have nuts on top that you have to hold

Heads up with Dallas Dodge. They just charged me full retail for a carrier bearing. Discount is around $170. Dallas charged $247.

Really would've liked to see the actual work being done... especially the cutting off of the old bearing.

Good video much information included with much knowledge, Thanks. Hay my support that holds the center bearing seems weak to me how was yours did you beef it up with extra steal????
@Glennfix3 жыл бұрын
My support seemed strong. You may want to check for rust and replace if needed. There is no torque on it it just holds up the driveshaft. All the torque from the engine is in the driveshaft. So it dose not have to be real strong.

my bearing is good, solid, no noise, no wobble, rubber is crumbly ...can the rubber be replaced only, take it out, get new one from new bearing, make a split cut, and install ?
@Glennfix14 күн бұрын
I would not try. If the rubber is bad the bearing is not far behind.

thx@@Glennfix ..will go for it ...there's no slack or noise ...calling dodge dallas monday ... replace u-joints also everywhere too ? front, center & rear ? ... i think so ... could not find moog center bearing for my dodge ram 50 ...will go with skf or similar, what do you recommend ?
@Glennfix13 күн бұрын
@@solartonytony5868 I think Dodge uses Moog. I ordered most of the things from Dallas Dodge on the internet. That is what I like to do, just replace everything. Like the front end, if one part goes bad, the others are coming soon. Every time, you need to do about the same amount of work to fix it.

thx @@Glennfix ... dodge dallas computer doesn't go that far ...it's an 83' ...will have to go with one of the autoparts shops ... any brand recommendations for quality parts other than moog ?

I checked your price it is $214 on Rock Auto with the same part number 5093379AD. On DCJR it is $339.

Where did you get the center support bearing from?
@Glennfix2 жыл бұрын
I got it from Dodge, but there is a Dodge dealer close to where I live but they want too much money for their parts. If I need a part from Dodge I order it from www.dallasdodge.net/ they have good prices and fast shipping.

I just wanted to point out that some parts you can get away with buying from a dealership. Once you start getting into things like coil packs they will overcharge you by 400%. Be careful

The Blue coating is a synthetic permanent lubrication & no grease is required is my understanding.

1998 Dodge 2500. Today. That "permanent" lubrication made the two shafts seize to each other. Had to beat them apart. Nearly ruined the WEAK yoke!
