Greetings from France. CONGRATULATIONS 🏆🏆🏆 that was amazing. You are ABSOLUTELY right never seen others use this technique by the Great Inventor. You are truly a blessing to me. I tie my elastic and add glue which becomes a bit "blobby" and then have a hard time hiding the blob. I MUST try this. Thanks for sharing caring and making me smile 👍👍👍😍😍😍💐💐💐

Pure genius! I have never seen anyone do a double crimped stretch bracelet, and I’ve been making these types of bracelets for several years. Typically, I just pass the stretch cord several times through the beads and tie the ends off. However, this makes an extra large knot that is extremely difficult to hide-but I do manage to hide it in a large holed bead. This method does not require a large holed bead and I can save on the amount of stretch cord I use. Thanks so much for sharing.

Great video! I’ve done something similar with crimp beads (a friend showed me about a year ago, maybe she saw your tutorial?). She also shared to dip a toothpick in glue and gently tap the glue onto both ends of the crimps before placing the crimp bead cover together (if room allowed). L It was sometimes tricky to ensure glue did not get onto the neighboring beads before covering. She was just trying to help me using techniques like yours as I struggled with the knots, I have trouble tying a knot on a 🎈😜. (Good thing I was never a sailor 😳)

They come in various sizes. You would want to look for crimp beads that say they are for crimping elasticity cord. Elasticity is the brand name offered by Beadalon. I know thick walled crimp beads are more expensive but worth the extra money.

Julie your video was awesome.... easy to understand and easy to listen to... I just have a question: so the crimp bead, when flattened, doesn't cut thru the elastic? I'm pretty sure it must not or you wouldn't do them that way. LOL.. but I have used beadalon plastic beading wire ( metal coated in plastic) for other projects and I have been known to have the crimp bead cut through the metal wire and ruin a project.. I have never used a crimper and maybe just the fact that you squeeze the crimp bead flat and then fold it in half may have something to do with my concern. I think you have come up with a brilliant idea as knotting that stretchy plastic is sometimes enough to make a girl take up knitting instead! LOL I look forward to your reply.
@JustPlainFun4 жыл бұрын
There are different types of crimp beads. I make sure I use the crimp beads with a thicker wall on them. Beadalon makes crimp tubes for working with Stretch cord. There are different sizes of crimp tubes that go with specific sizes of the stretch cords that are out there. The thicker walled crimp tubes are less apt to cut through the cord. When I am making bracelets, I always use a crimping tool. It helps to crimp them correctly so it won't cut through the elastic.

Genius idea. But why do you need to use a crimp cover if the beads are are going to hide the knot? Won't it make it too bulky for the bead to hide it?
@JustPlainFun4 жыл бұрын
Most of the bracelets I make have small 4mm beads between the paper beads so the crimp bead covers are there to replace the 4mm beads that are between the paper beads. Also not all beads have holes big enough to hide the crimp beads in.

Make sure you are using a thicker walled crimp bead. They tend to work better. They're not as fragile as thin-walled crimp beads.

@@JustPlainFun I may enter our small craft fair in a small town in Colorado. Just wondering about how much inventory and cost for bracelets made with elastic. In Louisiana, my mask holders were selling very well at a hospital, especially in the administrative offices where it was mandatory to wear masks all the time. The staff were “wearing” them as an accessory to match their clothes. They sold for $15 to $18, depending if they had matching earrings. It afforded me to be able to buy a Cricut Explore Air 2. In a craft fair, I’m at a lost as to inventory and cost. I would appreciate any advice you could give me. (My daughter-in-law is from Princeton, Maine. We were fortunate to visit their several times in the last few years. Grand Lake is a hidden treasure.) Thank you. Jerry 👩🏻❄️🍡⚜️

@JustPlainFun4 жыл бұрын
You don't want to use the thin walled crimp beads with elastic. The thick walled crimp beads are fine. Elasticity elastic is made for using elasticity crimp beads that are made for the elastic. I have used other crimp beads with other elastics without any trouble with them breaking. Of course, elastic does weaken with age and becomes brittle over time so no matter what elastic or method you use to secure the ends, eventually the elastic will break and will need to be replaced.

Elastoma is the only stretch cord that states it can be crimped. I add a tiny dash of G-S Hypo Cement right before crimping just in case. See video on how to properly crimp Elastoma...kzbin.info/www/bejne/gnmkmGdop5WLgtU

I was wondering why you would use crimp ‘beads’ until you said to cover them with ‘crimp bead covers’.... They are actually called crimp *tubes* & covered by crimp *beads*. It’s a nice bracelet but the crimp tubes can actually cut the elastic, so a safer way is to tie 2-3 knots, add a dab of super glue, dry then cover with a crimp ‘bead’.
@JustPlainFun3 жыл бұрын
There are crimp beads and crimp tubes. The crimp beads actually look like little round beads and don't need crimp covers. There are also different thicknesses of crimp tubes. The thicker ones work well with elastic and will not cut the elastic if used correctly. I have made several bracelets in this way and none of them broke at the place where the crimp tube is. Also there are actually crimp tubes that are made for working with elastic. The thin walled crimp tubes will cut through the elastic. Look up the brand name Elasticity. They are the ones that make crimp tubes for elastic. They also make elastic that is made for their crimp tubes. You also have to use the right crimp tube for the size elastic you are using.

I use silver plated crimp beads since they don't cost as much. You can use sterling silver if you want to however.
@hilariusaquarius7 жыл бұрын
I thought the sterling may be softer and less likely to 'eat' through the elastic. but I will use the plated if I can get away with it. :)

Just remember, no matter what you use to finish a stretch bracelet, it will break over time. The double crimping will make it last longer.
