Sadly, this feature is so limited it's almost useless. I wish they would allow you to either increase the size of the downloaded area or allow you to download per country. It's a ridiculous limitation that they don't even allow you to download an area with a radius that equals the range on your drone. If you visit multiple areas in one day (or even a whole trip), you have to spend hours on downloading maps. Hopefully they will improve it so it's more functional in a future update.

Totally agree, I was so disappointed with the limits. It makes it pretty useless, and I just end up connecting to my phone's hot spot.

Exactly! SD Cards are cheap and storage is plentiful. If you live in an urban area with a lot of landmarks, it's more practical to download the map of the whole city than just individual segments.

Can’t you download on an SD card from a laptop, then insert into the controller Never mind 🤷🏻‍♂️ I just flew for the first time yesterday

The RC2 controller limits the number of 3.0MB files you can download to 14 files. Not nearly enough and DJI doesn't have a solution at this time besides. . . Don't fly in remote areas. Thanks

Good video. Just a side note that might help other users. In order to download the maps, the drone has to be on! Then select the profiles button. Also if your doing this at home before you fly make sure to put a fan on the drone (especially if downloading a lot of maps) otherwise it will hit its thermal limit and turn off.

Just got the dji rc and tried to download offine maps, very very disappointed to find out that we can only download a tiny size each time. What is DJI thinking? Weird decision that make offline map close to useless.

Oh the timing of You posting this video was near perfect for me. Couldn't figure out why I was unable to access the map a few days ago. Downloading a few today. I will try to use my phone as a hotspot to download in a few days within the field in case I need that option. Thanks

Saving to a micro SD card works fine with my RC, but my RC Pro does not save to the micro SD card. It still saves to the internal storage. Not sure if this is something other people experience?

Do You have any video showing how to move videos from the drone and its controller, to a Pc? So far, moving the SD card to the Pc and having a lot of grotto work digs the videos up....

Agree - I love the fact that the controller can be connect to wifi - yet - "no clue" as to where in the world you "may" be located.... Multi BILLION dollar corporation - yet - no empathy or common sense on how to solve even the most BASIC problems imaginable.

Question, after downloading the maps and once you get to the destination to fly, how do you get the RC controller to assess the maps you downloaded? It does not do this automatically & it needs the internet to know where it’s at.

The done uses GPS to know where its at. Once its downloaded it will automatically show once your drone connect to the satellites

I bought Mini 4 pro and I had the impression that the country's map would be downloaded (while i was connected in wifi at the set up process). Sadly, I cant figure out how to do it. Any suggestion?

On my controller screen with map at full screen I can only see details when I touch it with my finger. Until I touch the screen the display is yellow with little detail. I’m sure it hasn’t always been like this. What am I now doing wrong, please?

When I downloaded a couple of areas, I also got data for satellite images. Go to right side of screen and tap the layers icon. Select satellite or mixed. It does however take 30-40 seconds for the satellite image to show up and you can't zoom in as close as you would be able to on Google Earth, for example.

My question is, do I have to be connected to the Internet to be ID Remote compliant? I have downloaded a few maps in the past, but that refresher was great. September 16 is coming pretty quick.

No. Remote ID is broadcast based on your GPS location. It has nothing to do with internet access.

I just bought the M3P and RC and this is such a disappointment compared to the Smart Controller. The maps download, but as soon as you exit the Offline Maps applet and go back in, the list of downloaded maps is empty, so I can't tell what maps I've already downloaded. Further, I hit about 20 maps and received a message about over capacity, even though there was still 118GB left on the micro SD card. I'm still up in the air on returning this thing and forking out another grand for the RC Pro because this controller overall is laggy and buggy.

@@JevenDovey I have lost TWO Dji drones in the last 2 weeks - all because a multi BILLION dollar company cannot execute on a BASIC feature that Alltrails has... F'n unreal... I believe with it being a China based company - they culturally just have ZERO or maybe CLOSE to ZERO empathy and therefor - they never "pretend" that they own the drone and are flying and "whoopsies" it's gone. I'll be fair - the GENIUSES that run the company atleast put the "find my drone" feature with the "flashing and beeping" option RIGHT on that same screen... so atleast that's something. I want to be a product tester for DJI and I want to be able to YELL at them on a daily basis... Another thing - Go try to buy the DJI "care" package for coverage for two years. Yes - you're trying to give them MORE MONEY - try doing so on the controller...name/address....good good... and then! You get to where you enter your phone number - no formatting examples - so you are going in circles entering in your phone number on a field that is BLOCKED by the popup keyboard. It's like their "Developers" are only paid a few grains of rice per year and do not care about their jobs? How is it that "developers" make INSANE money - and cannot execute properly on a basic phone number field? How is that still a thing? how is it that nobody "thought about" testing this? This alone forced me to use my PC to give them ANOTHER $125. F'n Unreal.
