Oh girl, you really know how to explain a basic HJA pattern making class, thank you so much for your great ideas. Maybe in your next videos, you can improve the lighting to better observe the quality of your work on the stroke and the line.

Hey, the book is called “pattern making for fashion design” by Helen Armstrong. The thumbnail shows what the book cover looks like (the picture is the top right corner) that’s the 5th edition.

Nice vid, thanks. How did you get the dart placement for front and back ? The book didn’t mentioned any of it..
@onyidiy2 жыл бұрын
Hey Sharon, Thank you 🙏 On page 38; figure 7, the dart placement is labeled as Number 20. All you need to do is measure the Centre front (at waist line) to the princess line. Another alternative is to measure the Centre front (at waist line) to the side seam and divide by 2. Hope this helped 💕
@sharonkhor74332 жыл бұрын
@@onyidiy it seems like less than a half from the centre front. I don’t know how to get princess seam though haha Thanks for your help

@@sharonkhor7433 Try using the standard measurement for a dart placement, which is 3 (or 4 if you’re on the bustier side) pls let me know if you still need help if that doesn’t work.

My dress form doesn’t have standard body measurements, should I use the standard measurements or go by the dress form only? Also, your videos our quite helpful! Would love it if you could do a video on dart manipulations as well😊
@onyidiy3 жыл бұрын
I think you should use the standard measurements because that’s the one that is probably closest to your body measurements. I’m so glad the videos are helpful to you, I actually plan to film dart manipulations in the nearest future 🙏🙏

May I know where to place the darts and the measurements for darts
@onyidiy10 ай бұрын
Hi! The waist dart is between 3-4 inches from the Centre front waist, the space between both dart legs should be about 1 1/2-2 inches depending on bust size and the dart is placed 3/4 inches below the bust point.
@shakiraisraatriyaa124910 ай бұрын
@@onyidiy thank you so much ❤️, what about the skirt block
@onyidiy10 ай бұрын
@@shakiraisraatriyaa1249 The skirt is the same as the top, whatever measurement you used from the center front waist (3-4 inches) is what you’ll use on the skirts (both front and back) then the length of the dart for the front is 3 1/2 inches while the length of the dart for the back is about 4 inches 💕

Y the armhole is different for front and back
@onyidiy2 жыл бұрын
It’s because the front armhole is a lot more narrow than the back. And that is why the front armhole is usually cut about half an inch deeper than the back armhole.
