Hi! I love your detail and most of it makes sense, but I am having trouble with how my patterns look. I've double-checked my measurements and even remeasured myself twice now! The armscyes loot pretty wonky to me, especially on the front. Can I send you my pattern to see if you can see anything really wrong? I am busty and short-waisted so maybe that is my problem. :D

Hi Joan, I'm so glad you reached out. The bustier you are the wilder the pattern is going to look because it had to really fold in on itself to make those curves. Send me a picture and I'll look at it. What i usually do as well is print the pattern, tape all together and put it on. The paper will give me a pretty good idea of whether or not it worked.

Hi! I’m very new to pattern making 😬 Do you add ease on to your measurements? Which ones? Thanks!

Hi! I'm so excited that you're learning pattern-making. It's a lot to learn at first, but it's so rewarding once you figure it out. I never add ease to my measurements on a basic bodice. You want to have a basic bodice with your exact measurements to make the rest of your patterns from. So if I want to make a t-shirt, I would take this pattern and trace it out (or just save it as a new file in the computer if I'm making the pattern on the computer) and add in ease to the bust, waist, hip, arm width, shoulder width, and neck width. But you do that in the actual pattern, not in the measurements, otherwise you'll end up with patterns that don't fit your actual measurements anymore. For instance, if you add ease to your neck measurement in the measurement file, your shoulders will end up further apart and the entire pattern will be wider than you want it. I hope this helps! Please reach out with any other questions. Good luck and have fun! Just be patient with the process while you're learning. There is definitely some trial and error involved in learning pattern-making.
