Great and well explained video on draining the heating system along with a diagram. If I want to add an inhabiter to the system, when and where should I add it during filling.
@NickTaylorPlumbingLtd8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the positive comment, I would put inhibitor into the system before you fill back up whilst the system is empty but all vents and drain off valves are turned off so it cant escape / drain away.

@@NickTaylorPlumbingLtd Thankyou for advising about that.👍

@NickTaylorPlumbingLtd would you add the inhibitor into the F&E tank before filling the system back up?

Really clear and informative thank you. I have to drain my system and feel confident now in what I’m doing. Just one question thought if I don’t have an isolation valve on my header tank can I just tie up the ball valve instead?
@NickTaylorPlumbingLtd2 жыл бұрын
Hi Matt thanks for your kind words, If you haven't already please like and subscribe to my page as it really helps. Yes you can tie the ball valve up but make sure its secured properly as you don't want that dropping and letting water into the system whilst your working on it. Personally I prefer to turn the water off at the main stop tap to the whole house as this stops any accidents happening. Hope that helps.

very clear and helpful, thank you. A quickie. My ball valve in the expansion tank works 24/7 with no issues but very occasionally water is discharged down the overflow pipe ? If the ball valve is closed and water isnt flowing through it whats happening in the system that makes the ware in the tank rise or ‘expand’. ?

If a repair or installation is being done on the first floor I drain off from that floor so that when refilling I only have to bleed the upstairs rads. This means that if its a micro bore low pressure system it can be bled much quicker. Also if no isolator on header tank I tie up the ball valve rather than switch off the mains. One less ladder to climb!!

Where is this drain-off valve located? i see one behind kictenchec (sink) wall in back garden? i have none near raditors.

Great video thank you for your hard work, is it nessesary to turn the gas off when draining the system?

Hi, I have 5 drop down radiators (downstairs) on my c/h system all on the same level plus the boiler drain off, so I have to drain all 5 radiators plus the boiler is there an easier way to do this, thanks.

Hi you forgot to say when draining the system to open up the motorised valves and to open the vent on the cylinder and filling back up to bleed the pump. Does know one tie up the ball cran anymore.

And does it make a difference if it has a back boiler in it?
@rossoshea96153 жыл бұрын
Can you just open the drain off at the boiler?

Hi do you just drain the F and E tank for dealing with heating system or do you drain the whole house water system down? Cheers Sean,

Nice and clear thank you 🙏🏻 A question if I may, please, at what point would you add a corrosion inhibitor like Fernox and how is it done in a gravity fed system? Good luck with growing your channel 👍🏻
@EMEL-hr4ut4 жыл бұрын
I never used to turn the boiler off. Is that bad ?
@NickTaylorPlumbingLtd4 жыл бұрын
Hi EM EL, Thanks again for your message, you should turn it off but its mainly if the heating turns on whilst the system is empty it can cause problems, particularly if the pumps starts circulating excess water when you've got an open ended pipe.
@claudiojunior96184 жыл бұрын
In reality these turn off valves are never there.
@NickTaylorPlumbingLtd3 жыл бұрын
Hi Claudio thanks for your message, the drain off valves should be installed on every property but your right more often than not the original installer is lazy and doesn't put them on. I'll post a video in a few weeks of how to get around this just for you! :)

Yes my house built in the 80s doesn't have a drain off valve.. rats!
