What drill bit did you use for drilling tiles ?
@sutters725114 күн бұрын
Who did the tiling? Either cut both tiles using the join as center or put one whole tile on the center line of tile n the center of the space and then cut the tiles either side. That symmetry on either method would look better than a whole tile and a cut!?! Who would do that!

The trick worked.I did clean up surface inside with flat screwdriver .It has stopped leaking. I think reducing the pressure by 10% would also prevent tap to drip quickly again.

Hi Nick, great video - thank you !!! Quick question can you install those release valves, 2/3 of the way up the wall instead of the loft, as I have no loft - your loft method would mean having lengths of pipes sticking though my bedroom floor 😂 any advice would be appreciated… many thanks
@NickTaylorPlumbingLtdАй бұрын
Hi @larrythebarberman, Thanks for the comment, you can put these valves anywhere, however as air finds the top of the system / floats to the top, if you put the valves 2 / 3 up the wall they would not be in the optimum place, if you adjust the pipework to a vertical, then elbow left of right horizontally for a short section then back onto the vertical pipework your creating somewhere where the air has to hit (almost a false high point where the elbow is). Now where the elbow is, replace that for a Tee piece and continue a short section of pipe vertically (longer the better but around 150mm is fine) and put the valve on there that will really really hope, hope that explanation makes sense, let me know how you get on 😀

The thing is, a modern boiler will shut itself down if the system pressure drops for example, when a drain valve is opened. Also if you run off too much system water you will compromise the inhibitor effectiveness. I try to save what I run off so I can get it back in the system.

Completely wrong, that's not enough solder at all. First thing they teach you at the plumbers pipe fitting union is you should use 1/2" worth of solder for 1/2" pipe and 3/4" solder 3/4" pipe ECT. I love it when people watch these plumbing videos and do what the person tells them on the video and then they call me out and it ends up costing them double. Because they have a leak at every joint.

I have learnt a lot from your videos on pipe bending, so thanks, they are clear and concise. The 1 thing that confuses me is when do you use the sob mark and when do you use - where the mark on your pipe meets the former on your pipe bender. E.G. on your 'offset' video, you seem to use the sob mark for the first bend and then the - where the mark on your pipe meets the former' for the 2nd bend. If you could clarify this, it would be much appreciated. Thanks, Justin

Very good, nice details here that I haven't seen elsewhere. 1.) SPIN pipe fitting to spread the flux around the pipe evenly. 2.) Form the end of the FLUX into a HOOK shape. 3.) If EXCESS FLUX RUNS DOWN a vertical pipe while heating it, I can carefully WIPE the excess FLUX OFF the copper pipe -> BEFORE applying solder. 4.) Copper turns whitish and flame turns green means it’s ready to accept solder.

Good video, do you need to purge the boiler as well after filling?
@NickTaylorPlumbingLtd2 ай бұрын
You should not need too, your boiler should remove the air itself of push it via the pump to the highest radiator on the system, hope that helps 👍

I have to change a few half-inch copper pipes. Is it possible to un-solder the elbows, clean and re-solder them? Or is that not practical?
@NickTaylorPlumbingLtd3 ай бұрын
You can clean the pipe / re-use the pipe but cleaning the elbows will be a nightmare so I would recommend just going down the local merchants and buying a couple for the sake of a couple of quid. Hope that helps :)

0:50 Why the water cannot pass the created air bubble? Isn't the pump strong enough to create differential pressure and push the air further into the radiator?
@Batt2843 ай бұрын
Shouldn't the plastic inserts (to stop the radiator rattling) be placed onto the brackets before you draw your pencil mark on the bracket? Otherwise the radiator will sit a few millimeters higher than your measurements which could be a problem if you are fixing to existing pipework.

Why must you turn all the taps on upstairs and downstairs after turning the water off via 'isolation valve/indoor or outdoor stopcock' ? Our kitchen cold water ceramic cartridge has seized up (probably limescale has clogged the mechanism) and won't turn on, so why can't we just turn off the mains stopcock and allow any residual water to drip out as we unscrew the cartridge?
