Very nice... thanks for this tip! I figure rather than juggling a bucket though, can use a garden hose to fill the rest of the hose and get it going.

Wow, yeah this was a great tip. We were getting no where fast with garden hose on drain plug. We added this and the pool emptied in 2-3 hours. We ended up connecting the hose end in the pool to vacuum head to weigh it down.

Thank you for this! It was a really wet summer here in Michigan. I assume I need to drain the water sitting on top of the pool cover before winter comes to avoid any damages. While the water inside the pool below the cover is ok, it’s a couple feet below the edge/top of the pool (if that makes sense) at this moment.

I used that to tape a smooth rock to the end of the hose that I throw into the pool to keep it down.

Tape the rock to the end of the hose to keep it under water.

Draining the cover. This will also work for draining the pool water as long as the heights are different.

FYI - the end of hose on the outside of pool needs to be lower than the end of hose inside of pool or it wont work.

Crypt0bank thanks for the tip. In this old video the only time that the hoses were at he same level was to burp the air out of the line. I use a shop vac now to prime the siphon and it works like a charm. Link is below 👇

Are you just trying to drain water off the top of your cover or actually use the vacuum inside the pool of the bottom?

@@derickebbinghaus5087 I'm actually trying to vacuum the bottom of the pool it's a little dirty. I was just having a hard time trying to get a suction. I finally got it to work. Thanks for responding.
