"no stretching! smooth the fabric. let the fabric talk to you" says nick verreos. your technique is a bit different. but it works. while you were working i thought that the garment would be tight. but it fits well. thanks for the video. if you can, please make a video about draping on a real person. how would one go about pinning? I and many others would greatly appreciate it.

You inspired me to make my prom dress this year and I am so happy I did because I created something that was 100% me. I want to create something like this for next year but I don't have a dress form. Do you, or any others, think it is necessary for me to get a dress form if I plan on making a fit and flare/somewhat mermaid dress as you have here. I'm not experienced really at all when it comes to draping and I even found myself getting confused on creating a princess seam for the bodice of my dress, but I was able to in the end. In conclusion, should I invest in a dress form and take a draping class? I don't want to spend an incredible amount however. Thank you to all who took the time to read this and have a great day!!!

If I had you as my teacher for my draping course in FIT I would have excelled it along with pattern making. Thank you so much Daniela Tabois. You've inspired me "TO GET MY DRAPE ON"!!! To get started draping my design ideas. I'm a self-taught flat pattern maker but, watching you gives me the confidence that I will do it too. If I can make a request, could you drape another mermaid silhouette dress or evening that have an (ARMHOLE PRINCESS LINE) bodice or dress with a (CIRCULAR FLARED FLOUNCE) lower skirt. Example ideas for a flounce skirt STYLE LINE can be a "V Point"..."inverted V Point...or "Zig-Zag" to make it interesting. Please let me know what you think of my request.

do a deep v-neck and the dress in the black materiel. can you also do sleeves because i have no idea how to drape/pattern draft sleeves. if you end up doing sleeves, make them a black lace so you have a contrast between the solid black dress on the body and see through lace sleeves. it would look super edgy and professional
@SuperModerngranny8 жыл бұрын
I like what I see, but I thought draping garments need grainlines as guidelines, otherwise the garment might not hang well and/or pull out of shape? Also, I thought you need to drape all the panels together (at the same time) following grainlines so that notches can be marked for matching especially so for very close fitting garments to void puckers and also for easing and shaping during pressing and sewing, no?

I'm about to start on my wedding dress and I just want to double check... I noticed on your fitting video you don't have a center seam from this pattern, does that mean that you line up the grain lines from the left and right front pieces to make one center panel? Thank you!! Your videos are rad and such an awesome help.

If I was making something like this out of a stretchy fabric would I need to cut on the bias at all or just usual with the grain? Still learningb
@DanielaTabois2 жыл бұрын
It depends on your design. Bias cuts are used with woven fabrics like silks, satin, charmeuse, etc. You can use the bias cut technique with knits/jerseys but you will have to control the drape, as these will give more than wovens in length.
