Missed the exaggeration on the curve of the hair along the forhead..if you would of added that it would have been 10 outa 10.

I like your style: not too exaggerating. Some people are too exaggerating and actually drawing a deformed face. And I also like your precision.

In some cases yes but i would also say there are space for more exageration without the likeness goin 😅

Been trying to bone up on my caricature skills and I clicked this video not knowing what to expect, but this was fantastic. I might have made some different choices about what to exaggerate, but that’s what’s great about caricature (and art in general) is that it allows me to see something the way someone else sees it. And it also made me feel good like, “yes, I know what he is talking about...now if he would just bring that nose out a little more...” :) I also loved the point you made about exaggeration vs. distortion, small but useful distinction. I hope you can put away fears that you shouldn’t be teaching this stuff, because I was actually thinking what a great approach you had here. Friendly, humble, enthusiastic, empathetic. We get to experience both the “oops” and the “ah-ha” moments with you, and that is so valuable. Thank you for sharing your process and insight!

I've been looking for my own Aha moment for years when it comes to drawing caricatures. The idea about those shapes to get you started has just done it for me. I've learned more from this video than years of reading How-to books. What I admire even more here is that you didn't choose an "easy" subject with pronounced features. Thank you so much.

Really...? everything was ok and then you mirrored the drawing and the image...how do you imagine I can still do my drawing after yours when yours is suddenly in a mirror??...
@timleelegacyartstudio7 жыл бұрын
Cotet Alexandra another trick if your drawing on paper is that in your original sketch, hold it up to a window to see through the page and see its mirror. See if that helps :)
@timleelegacyartstudio7 жыл бұрын
Cotet Alexandra I also often resketch over top am original sketch using tracing paper. my stuff usually ends up digital in the end but there's a ton of ways to use the mirror technique even in the real world. :0)
@alexandrac99527 жыл бұрын
It does not help me, but thanks for trying...I draw on a paper. I don't want to make a copy using a window, I want to use my eyes to make my drawing after yours. Isn't that learning?...when I understand what I see? how I learn if I copy your final drawing on a window?... This video is not for people who still use a real paper and a real pencil. Anyway...nice video!
@timleelegacyartstudio7 жыл бұрын
+Cotet Alexandra lol! I didn't mean to trace it. Unless you go the tracing paper route. My eyes often don't see what need to be seen until I make it different than what my eyes are used too. Flipping it upside down, or holding the drawing up to a window just to see through the paper and see how close I am, then I'd just lay my paper back down on the table on the side I was drawing and erase and edit what I saw as I was looking through the paper using the window or light so I can see through it. Digital just makes that whole effort easier. But the techniques in caricature certainly still help in any format :)

I love your technique, very interesting take on the Riley Rhythms. I belong to Proko Caricature Group and really appreciated your technique. So I shared this video link over on their Facebook Page. I subscribed and joined your instagram. Fantastic work, keep the tutorials coming! I learned quite a bit on this video! Thank you! Have you considered doing a weekly Twitch Live Stream?
@timleelegacyartstudio5 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! I learned a lot of my Riley Rhythm techniques because I was inspired by the Proko videos. I re-tailored them a bit for my own techniques but the principles are PERFECT. I did try twitch for a while and didnt see much success. But I do youtube live videos here and there for my patrons. Once I get a few extra patrons in it is my goal to start with a once a month live stream and work my way up as we keep growing the patreon. :0)
