To be honest, I do not really like to use light bases. And a dark sandpaper is my favorite basis!

Can I get a similar effect on a black canvas by any chance? I only have canvas panels at the moment but really want to try this.

Katie! Of course, you can use a black canvas! The texture will be visible on the canvas. Give it a try! The effect will be slightly different, but no less interesting! I use abrasive paper (ordinary fine sandpaper with fine grain, 1000 grit). I wish you an Inspiration!😊🎨💗
