Hey I Am Amazed by your videos! and am think about getting my own pan pastels I was wondering do you use a white Pastell pencil for highlights or a prismsacolr/ faber castell colored Ed pencill. And do you glaze the white with Pastell or colored pencill lovely drawing :)
@KirstyRebeccaFineArt2 жыл бұрын
Thank you 😊 If you're using Pan Pastels, it's much easier to use pastel pencils for details on top - coloured pencil doesn't stick very well to pastel in my opinion (unless you're using the Luxarchival sanded paper which is quite expensive) If you're using the paper in this tutorial (which is Clairefontaine Pastelmat) then pastel pencils would be best on top of Pan Pastels 😊

i love your work! Could you please tell me how you did this specific outline? this looks pretty large and im wondering how to get my outline sketches for drawings bigger than 8x10. Thanks so much!
@KirstyRebeccaFineArt3 жыл бұрын
If you print your reference photo (you can split the image over 2 pages and tape them together to make a larger piece) then cover the back of your print out with pastel, flip it over on top of your drawing surface and trace the outline (the pastel on the back will imprint onto your drawing surface) You can also do the same thing if you want to freehand (just do your freehand drawing/erasing etc on a separate piece of cheap printer paper) and do the same method as above If you are a member on Patreon, I have specific tutorials showing you all of these things 😊

Love this topic - would love to take this class but not till December as I have a major acrylic project to finish. I husband favors lions, wolves and buffalo. I love creating with PanPastels - they are so versatile. Is it possible to just get the lion lesson?
@KirstyRebeccaFineArt3 жыл бұрын
Hi Barbara, Unfortunately, I don't offer single tutorials but some people have signed up to Patreon for one/two months (then cancelled their membership) once they have finished the tutorial 😊 The lion is on the $9 tier level, so that is something you could potentially do! www.kirstyrebeccafineart.com/patreon-longer-in-depth-tutorials

Hi Kirsty Rebecca! Gretings! I have a question? When you blending with the cotton stick, do you change it regularly, between the dark areas, and the light ones? Or do you use a single cotton stick for every parts? Dark colors and light colors?
@KirstyRebeccaFineArt3 жыл бұрын
If I'm going from a dark area into a light area, I will change the cotton tip If I start in a light area, I may go into a dark area afterwards without changing the cotton tip 😊

Your drawings are great! Watching the film, I try to draw a lion. I did not think that you would use so many colors as a foundation (red, purple, blue...) It would be nice if you added a translation into many languages. I'm interested in the language of Polish but certainly watching you from other countries would be happy. Not everyone knows English. Regards, from the snowy Polish
@KirstyRebeccaFineArt2 жыл бұрын
Thank you 😊 Unfortunately, KZbin adds the subtitles automatically for me, so I can't control whether your language is an option (and I also can't afford to hire a translator to add subtitles so all my videos in multiple languages) I hope you are able to follow the tutorial in English - I try to make them simple but I understand it can be difficult 😊

@KirstyRebeccaFineArt3 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I'm not sure what you are asking? The brand of pastel pencils are Faber Castell Pitt pastels, and Stabilo Carbothello and I did the background and base layer with Pan Pastels 😊 If you want to know the exact colour names I am using, I have all of that information in my longer, real-time tutorials over on Patreon 😊

Such great tips, Kirsty! I know pastels are fast but how long did this one take you? Also, I know it's weird to talk about income, but are you going full-time with your art now? If not I hope you can reach that goal soon! Keep up the great work.
@KirstyRebeccaFineArt3 жыл бұрын
The full length tutorial was about 3 hours but that doesn't include editing reference photos, setting up, changing camera angles, breaks etc Not quite! I have to make sure the income from art covers tax (which is a huge % for business in Australia), as well as enough to pay my own superannuation, paying for supplies/equipment etc as well as giving myself a reasonable wage before I think about going full time.. so it will be a while I think! 😊
