Potion Lily What I found really helpful is taking one page dedicated completely to hands. Often times, I'll take a picture or something of my own, and I've became much better with hands - also if you study images and hand placement, it's pretty awesome to do before taking on a full image.

Wow you are good. Like really good. Toooo good! Also, thanks because these videos are really helpful!! I like the middle "Naruto" one the most, it reminds me of Loish's style (who is my ultimate fav!). So if he did a video going over that style more, someone *please* help me find it. The big eye one reminds me of Fuzichoco, and when I go look at the art style now, I can really see how low some of the ears get on Choco's. Its like I cant stop noticing it now lol.

@Ausdrake12 жыл бұрын
That's normal, and in fact a healthy attitude to have so long as you're not being too hard on yourself. Being able to see the flaws in your own drawings means you will be able to improve upon those next time you draw as long as you keep them in mind. It also stops you from becoming complacent with your style and stagnating. I know it sounds cliché but use that desire to keep improving your art! You'll also become quicker as you keep drawing.

@diggymasters77546 жыл бұрын
Probably late af but if you are still having trouble instead of "waisting the sketch pads" only draw insanely lightly till you improve that way you can continue to use the same piece of paper over and over by earsing then once you got a good looking drawing and can make good looking ones you start practicing to make it darker and actually shade it

@jrm4822011 жыл бұрын
If it helps, I've found that drawing a good circle is mostly done from the shoulder. You hold your pencil as you normally would, but you really don't need much or any movement in the hand or fingers. Instead, you move your arm from your shoulder, keeping your elbow loose so that your forearm can extend ad retract naturally as your shoulder moves.
@madmanslullaby112 жыл бұрын
I wonder if you went to a school were they taught you to draw. I mean, you already have great talent in that area, but it's so perfect... It'd be hard to believe someone didn't help you with it.

I love watching your videos after attempting your step-by-steps in your books, it helps put it into perspective like it would if you were taking an online class. While you were drawing the second face I was thinking how much it looked like Sakura Haruno from when I was using her as my practice model when I first started dabbling with drawing the manga style, so it was entertaining when you used the series as a reference for the style.

So, I was looking for a video of yours but on the eyes, and I ended up settling for this. I have been also currently changing my huge, giant anime eyes to a more humane style. The way you did the eyes really helped as a guideline, so thanks for that.
@CherryDNA12 жыл бұрын
Making guidelines is good, I used them a lot when I started drawing (though I hated to draw them!). Now, after years I've learn to use them less and use more my eyes. It takes time but is really good way to learn and if you're not sure where to but your nose or mouth... just add guide lines. It saves your time and nerves.

You're videos are so helpful! You are a such a great artist Mark and I'm very happy I found your channel. I used to draw all the time when I was younger but then life got in the way. Now 10 years later I'm trying to get back into it and it can be very frustrating at times, not being at the level I used to be at or the level I would be at now if I never stopped, but you and a couple other artists here on KZbin have made the process much simpler and I find the process much more relaxing rather than stressful now. Which is where I want to be, finding joy in art like I used to in the past. Also, I just ordered your how to draw manga vol 1 on Amazon for my little sister. She doesn't always have Internet to watch the videos like I do, so it'll will be very good for her to have the book. So I just wanted to say thank you for the tutorials! ^_^

That's one of the side effects of being an artist. The more you know about drawings and art, the more capable you are of seeing the little details. I'm just starting to learn how to draw, but when I play my piano in front of other people they think I hit every single note at the exact right time, when in reality I can hear all of the mistakes I make. You make mistakes from time to time but the unprossesional wont notice asnd the professional wont care, because they know how hard you're working.
@xDorkilyDoox12 жыл бұрын

Mark, I am very interested in the more realistic style drawings. You have a few videos and chapters in your "How to Draw Manga" books, and I appreciate all the examples you have given me. I do hope that you continue dropping some demonstrations of more realistic styles throughout the weekly videos and in your future books. The prevailing style in manga tend toward the non-realistic, but you do a decent job balancing between varieties. Please don't forget us realistic-style artists!

This is the reason Mark seems really Critical to his own work. You will always see the errors more clearly than anyone else, since you are more intimately acquainted with the inner workings of the drawing. That's why I you need the opinion of others, or mentally distance yourself from the drawing and look at it again. I like to leave my drawings after I finish them, and not look at them until a week has passed. Then I look at it with a fast glance, and If I still see errors, I correct em.
