Proko can you give some advice about SCRATCHY graphite after using sandpaper to complete the sharpening phase? I use a razor knife and then i use a40 sandpaper to give some shape to the graphite. But it ends up crooked and not smooth. Maybe im using too hard sandpaper? Is that the problem?

when I say rhythm I just mean the movement between things. It is usually a very simple line. C S or I. anything more complex then CSI is an outline. Rhythms are used to capture the gesture or action of something, but also can be used to find the placement and size relationships.

Wow. Your insistence on the two value step really helps out with me. I've never started rendering that way, and I've never been told to start that way. But I should have seen it since concept art is always broken down into the two values before you see any detail in the final piece. I'm definitely going to be paying attention to this in future renderings. Brilliant.

You have no idea how many times I've tried this way , I know I can draw a simple nose.....but I want a more realistic way,,, and I am getting very impatient ..ha ha,, I usually pick up quicker than this .... its too fast.or something I thought yeah anatomy , but when the video gets to putting the picture into the planes and they ad a line here and there real quick I get lost.,,,, I generally use proko for a lot of the features, my face still looks funny this way Looks like that gold robot off of star wars,! There's nothing harder in portrait drawing than a good nose. We need every bit of help available and you gave me something to think about. You have interesting way to build that image from that structure thing. I also like how those shapes are not too rounded but have some corners you know, giving a feeling that this nose belongs to somebody rather than being just any schoolbook nose.

It's not meant to make drawing noses easier.. it's made to make it more understandable(the features of the noses, the planes, how they're shaded, how they look at different angles). You don't need to watch it if you'd rather stick to what you're used to, but if you really want mastery of the facial features you'll want to get this down.
@MrChannelforwatching6 жыл бұрын
Jimmy Finestein Exactly. Plus, understanding it should make it much easier to draw in the long run. If you understand the basic structure of the nose, you'll have no problem drawing different variations of noses, drawing it from different angles and even shading and understanding light source.
@nr488906 жыл бұрын

You have to know anatomy in order to actually draw. Real artists start from realism and they also study a lot of anatomies. This helps them make sure that their work actually makes sense and anatomy is part of the BASIC BUILDING blocks you need to know when learning how to draw, something MOST anime drawers don't do, which is why their characters don't look right, arms are too long, symmetry is lost, the skeletal structure bent in unnatural ways, and etc. Every professional artist will say this, you START from realism, mastering it FIRST, then find your own style, be it the anime look, cartoon look, comic book look, and etc. But it has to start from realism and knowing your anatomy.

If you're doing art, dont feel bad if you are not the best drawer in the world! The world has seen this, art has changed. I do think these movies have very helpful tips which can help u by for example here a portrait. it does not always need all the realism shown here but some things as shadows and the way he explains why and how can really help the illusion of a 2D drawing. There is much more into it. Like he said: it's to inspire :)
