Ooooo adding the Mars Black was very effective. I wasn't sure about that colour but now I know what to do with it. I recently purchased DL and they're surpassing my beloved Holbeins. I hope Derwent add more vibrant, happy colours to the range.
@DarellTrianniArt4 жыл бұрын
Good it’s my favourite colour 😊 I find it blends well with every colour. Haha The Derwent Lightfast are brilliant and yeah a few more colours is the way forward. Polychromos have 20 more colours I think so it would be a great idea and hopefully in time Derwent will do that.

Hi! This is a great video. One thing that could make it even better is if you were to have the exact pencil colour name or even just it's number whenever you change pencils. What yellow did you use for the main inner part of the flame? It is very helpful that you did list the exact pencils that you used in your description, but I'm a beginner with coloured pencils, so I can't quite work out where you used certain colours, eg I don't know when you transitioned from Mars Black to just Black - I can see it when you mention blending it with the outside of your flame with the Red colour but I can't tell where you used the Black (as Black is listed in your colour list as well as Mars Black) or whereabouts you used the other pencils in your list that you didn't actually say what it was like when you used the Flame colour and transitioned out into the Red and then the Black - but not so much with the other colours you listed. It's certainly a very beautiful and very realistic flame at any rate! 👋 from Australia!

Hi. Sorry I wish I did it live for people so they can follow it properly. I just never thought that it would be the most viewed vid on my channel. I’ll try my best to explain, the the black pencil is just used on the background and Mars black which is slightly purple allows you to transition the edge of the flame (reds) into the black background. You do this by lightly shading over the edges of the reds to make a darker version of the reds you’ve already shaded on the paper this helps the edges of the flame to disappear into the black background. I used both yellows (banana & yellow) on top of each other on the very inside edge to blend and transition the orange colour (flame) into the white. This is done by shading the yellows on top of each other on the orange colours edge… then shading the flame colour on top of the yellow lightly… then switch back to shading yellow on top on the flame colour until it blends out. When that’s done just lightly shade a bit of yellow into the white to blend out the yellows harsh edge… you can use Banana or yellow for this I don’t think it would really matter. Thank you I hope this helped its great to talk to someone on the other side of the world lol 😊

What if i don't have that kind of colors? What should i use cause i don't have red yellow, banana, and strawberry?
@DarellTrianniArt3 жыл бұрын
You could substitute reds for different shade of orange. Like reds would be the deeper dark oranges and use light oranges for the yellows but it wouldn’t look the same… what colours have you got?
@uvuvwevuvweonyiyetenweuvuv19483 жыл бұрын
I only have 36 White Black Cool Silver Gray Silver Gold Van Dyk Brown Indian Red Raw Amber Burnt Orchre Brown Lake Green Emerald Green Green Grass Green Yellow Green Orange Yellow Gold Orchre Yellow Cinabar Light Orange Flesh Pink Madder Lake Magenta Reddish Orchid Pink Blue Violet Ultra Violet Cobalt Blue Oriental Blue Light Blue Blue Prussian Blue Scarlet Light Light Carmine Red
@DarellTrianniArt3 жыл бұрын
I’d use. Yellow, red, Scarlett light, magenta, black, Carmine. Use the magenta to intensify your reds and oranges. The carmine should darken your colours so you can use that to transition the edge of the frame to black if that isn’t dark enough use the Indian red and blend it with a bit of black until you get the right value. If that make sense?
