This is so cool, I’m wanting to draw in a similar style to yourself, making a character that I can use throughout a children’s storybook. Do you know if you can add text on the same page as the picture you’re drawing? I’m new to grease pencil too 😢

Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching! Yes, you can use text in Blender, including animating it. To add text, ensure you are in Object mode at the top left. Click SHIFT + A on your keyboard to bring up the Add menu. Select the Text option. You won't be able to see the text at first because of how it is rotated in the viewport. Click N on your keyboard to open the Transform menu at the top right of the viewport. Change the X rotation to 90. You should now see the text. On the right in the Properties menu, click the "a" icon, which is the text properties. From here you can adjust the text information, such as font, size, etc. The Text object should currently say Text in the viewport. To change the words, select the Text object at the top right in the Outliner section. Enter Edit mode at the top left. You can select the word "Text" and type whatever you want. To change the color, add a new material in the Materials tab in the Properties menu on the right. Hope that is helpful!

That is incredibly helpful, thanks for taking the time. Your understanding of blender is on an entirely different level to myself so I really do value your help. Thanks again

Is it possible to cell shade grease pencil objects using the lighting customization features of blender ? I know it can be done with 3D objects but was curious with 2D. I’m still kind of new to grease pencil. Awesome video !

Thanks for watching! Yes, you can create cell shading and affect it with the lighting. Here is a video covering line art, and it provides some information on how light affects the lines: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKuon3yig9GHr8U Here is a video that covers cell shading: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqvZnmt3gbR-bJosi=ZNbdyPH2cxIO6rFE&t=614 Hope that helps!

Just put the wrap on this and seriously the best simple blender grease pencil step by step I’ve seen after searching forever….already used freehand and illustrator forever, and trying to get that into blender pipeline…mint. subscribed and looking forward to more 4.3+ focus and this style. Tx.

Glad it was helpful! I'm looking forward to digging into 4.3 as well. I've got some ideas for future training videos, and I'm working on personal projects that I look forward to sharing using this style. More to come if I can fit it into my schedule. Thanks for checking them in out!
