I was taught that that with includes the arrow goes to the use case that is necessary in your case it would have arrows going from createEmpRecord to validate data and attributes and UpdateEmpRecord to validate data attributes and extends is the opposite as well for example : Two use cases Appointment and Print not all the time you may want to print them so print is extended to appointment so an arrow from print to appointment. Is my Instructor incorrect?

+kentfarmx No, but the thing is generating a bonus isn't stated mandatory anywhere as such in this use case . Therefore whatsoever your instructor has taught you is definitely correct

There are lot of arguments about the and the conventions of directions of arrows but the fact that they are internal processes of the SuC is very clear. All the discussions can be safely avoided by NOT including such internal processes as UseCases without failing to broadly specify the SERVICES offered by the SuC.

There are other diagrams such as Sequence Diagrams and Activity Diagrams which show workflows (conditional and unconditional). There are ways to systematically associate different UML Diagrams. The purpose of these specialized diagrams is to keep each diagram simple and yet sufficient to show certain aspects of the SuC. CHEERS. Esta: Congratulations. This is one or the rare videos on UseCase Diagrams with least errors. Your explanation of and relation with other UseCases is very clear and correct but the error of UML specification itself is to call them UseCases in the first place. They are actually "internal processes" of the System under Consideration SuC and should not be shown in a UseCase Diagram. All valid UCs must have an external Actor associated with each of the UCs. If two or more different Actors use the same UC the associations must be shown. If the Actor is strictly a "role" per UML the Actor's name should be the "Name of the Role" but NOT the name of the entity which performs multiple roles. It would be impractical to do this and so the above deviation form UML spec is acceptable. This does not identify all the Actors of EMS but that is OK. A comment about it would make it clear. The Include/Exclude or Extends is not very clear. Also the video quality is not good enough to see what is written. From what I got if the functionality like Validate is required every time means it is Include and functionality like Calculate Bonus is done occasionally so Exclude or Extends, is it correct ?
