So glad you like the brushes! I wish I could convert the brushes to other apps but unfortunately the brush engine in Procreate is very different and has nuanced settings and features that other apps don’t have. These features add to the authentic look of the brushes (which takes days and sometimes weeks of tweaking and testing to achieve). So far I haven’t unfortunately been successful in converting the brushes to other apps where I’m happy to sell, I have high standards and don’t want to sell sub-standard versions of my brushes. So sorry I couldn’t give you a more positive answer! Maybe in the near future all these apps will be more compatible with each other and allow the import of other software brush files.

To answer your question, it depends 😊 vectorising a final image as is in full colour can create too many points in Adobe Illustrator which can lead to a very data heavy document. But there is a method that I've used for years where I combine Procreate with Adobe Illustrator. You could try some of the charcoal brushes that come with Procreate, but they won't unfortunately give you that smeary look.

Thank you so much for your purchase, it's much appreciated! The colour burn blend mode results depend on the base colour and the blend colour. It will usually given a higher saturation result. So it yours is too strong, you can reduce the opacity of that layer until you get the results you want. Hope that helps!

The tutorials intentionally make use of different brushes, this is to help customers to understand the intended use of the brushes I create and get them started with using the brushset they bought. Many techniques in the tutorials can be applied using any texture brush, it's not a requirement to have the exact brush I use. The tutorials are an added service I like to include in my brush packs. I hope you can still benefit from the tutorials and any new ones I make, and hopefully you'll still get value out of the characters and techniques I walk you through.

Question: Lisa, i noticed that you say something like "i don't have that problem, so I'm going to leave my layers like this instead of flattening them". How is that? Sometimes I run out of available layers to create. Wondering if you have found a leeway other than flattening the layers or resizing the canvas, like maybe... upgrading your ipad, or something. I recently needed to make a big (A1 or A0 which is like 594x841mm, 841x1189mm) 300dpi poster and Procreate couldn't make such big canvases. The biggest I could get was like a A2 or (420x594mm:offering 11layers) or B2(515x728mm: offering 6 layers). Is there a way to solve this problem within Procreate or not? Wanted to know if you have a way other than having to send it to Photoshop or some sort of other program and enlarge it.

Your layer limitation is based on your iPads size, RAM and capabilities. I have an iPad Pro 12.9 inch so in general it allows me to create fairly large canvases and still have quite a few layers available to use. There isn't unfortunately really a way around that (none that I know of) unless you lower the resolution of your canvas, but that defeats the purpose of creating large high-res artwork. Hope that helps!

But looks like yours is a bit more of the latest model since i see you using the 2nd generation apple pencil. Could be that yours have a higher capability. @@aprilbreeze_8949 No problem, I'm happy to help! My iPad isn't that much more "powerful", the amount of layers I get with an A2 is 15. I did a quick test to see if I could create A1 and it's too large for my iPad. I'm sure Procreate is working hard on improving that. I did however once read in their forums that they are restricted by how much RAM/memory Apple allocates to apps on the iPad so it basically prevents Procreate from monopolising all the system's resources. Holding thumbs that each update they find a way to improve the layer restriction.

I used a paper texture from my Paper Box collection called Canvas (www.lisaglanz.com/shop/seamless-paper-textures/) to overlay on the final image I show right at the end, this I applied in Adobe Illustrator when putting the video images together, but you can apply it in Procreate as well if you prefer. Hi, Lisa, thanks for the tutorial and all the detailed instruction that comes with each pack! Just that... I found both in your tutorial and another illustrator's, is it a must to layer at least twice to achieve the texture result? You both fill in the base color first and then put on the texture you like and the base color is darker than the color used to make the desired texture. Is it also a must to use a lighter color second? Thank you :)!

It's a pleasure! So glad you find the tutorials helpful! To answer your question regarding layering, it depends on the effect you'd like to achieve. You definitely don't need to layer colours, you can still enjoy a great grungy texture from the brushes without layering. But if you want a richer texture that has more depth of colour variation, then layering is great for that. It's the same technique fine artists use when painting with acrylic or oils (and even watercolour). Layering different colours can create wonderful rich results. You don't need to always use a dark then light, you can use a brighter version of your colour first for example, then when you layer your final colour it has a lovely depth to it. I often use very bright pink, then layer that with orange to achieve an interesting orange colour texture. Definitely experiment so you can find the formula that you like and gives you results you want 😊

So glad you're diving into the world or drawing and Procreate ❤️🤗 I like keeping my sketch layer visible in my final piece, this is a personal preference but definitely not a "requirement". for me, i like seeing those messy lines, it adds to the energy of the piece, but this might not be your taste. You could also try and lower the opacity of the sketch layer if you want to try and leave it on to see the effect. Definitely play around with the blend modes of the layer as well. Hi Deb! Thank you so much for your interest in my brushes. These brushes are Procreate brushes, meaning you will need the Procreate app to use them. At this stage the Procreate app is only available for Apple iPads and works best with an Apple Stylus. If you're looking to pivot to digital painting and drawing then an iPad and Procreate is a great starting point. But of course it's quite a serious financial outlay so I would say you would need to be quite serious and dedicated to the shift to digital. Unless of course you already have access to an iPad and Pencil, then buying Procreate is fairly inexpensive. Hope that helps!

Hi Zahra, Yes, the character drawing toolkits all work in the Pocket version of Procreate 😊 I have also tested the Nitty Gritty Brushes and all the brushes work well. However, for the best experience in terms of resolution, I recommend the full version of Procreate for the Nitty Gritty Brushbox.
