I'm pretty damn good at drawing people. Organic backgrounds aren't really a problem for me. But these more rigid man made backgrounds, I avoid them like the plague. Just following along with this video I felt like a little kid learning to ride a bike, resisting the urge to start yelling "I'm doing it! I'm doing it!" Thank you for being awesome Crilley.

The reason I like Mark so much is because he's really upbeat and fun about drawing. It reminds me a lot of when Stan Lee talk to fans and viewers. Other artists will be half way through a video complaining how it's not perfect, but in reality it's not that bad.

As the building styles for castles are different from other styles of architecture, I think that it could be quite enlightening. Mark's sketchbooks show that he is far more than up to the task. Both European and Asian castles /fortified structures comes up in Manga & Anime with enough regularity that it fits in with his channel's tutorials.

now, this is why I like Mark Crilley. Good day Mark, I am a watcher from Malaysia and I wanted to thank you for the cool stuff that you tough me, I Agree for what have you just said, that is, "anyone have there own way of drawing." That sentence just had me and my Teacher argue, he said Do what he do. But from you, we all have our own way of drawing. You are the courage of my drawing Mark. And thanks for reminding me, that in our first try of drawing, we might not do it perfectly. Mark, you are my Teacher.

I've taken other classes that showed me 1, 2, and 3-point perspective, but none of them really got into building up complete landscapes and backgrounds using perspective. +Nicholas Harvey It's one thing to imitate anothers artwork, another to create your own. Imitation is rather easy for anyone to do, creating your own work from scratch with nothing but your mind as a tool, is hard. For example, think you could draw this shot from the side instead of the current front? Just something to think about.

@cestarianinhabitant5898
@cestarianinhabitant5898 8 жыл бұрын
Nicholas Harvey I'm saying try to draw a scenario similar to this one from nothing but your head with no image reference, and you'll see what I mean. Drawing and Drawing isn't the same thing. There's creative drawing (from imagination/memory) and re-creative drawing (from reference). I'm sure you like most want to be able to do creative drawing right? All the artists that can do that have inevitably done quite a bit of re-creative drawing, but just repeating that process never got any of them where they are now. Drawing from imagination is a whole new set of techniques in comparison. Actually I'd like to see Mr. Crilley cover that, if he can (and by that I mean it's really hard to describe and teach creativity, how to get images from your head down to paper, there are no guidelines from drawing an imaginary creature no one has ever seen before, after all, no references to follow)
