I don't know if Kooleen said this but, a little tip : make your sketch a lighter colour. Not just like a grey shade but maybe try light blue etc. It helps you see the lineart more clearly :]

But light blue is like, more saturated it so you can't see it in a white background (but can work in a dark one)

I just draw 3 times 1. Sketch 2. Shaping (line art basically) 3. Final line art (after reshaping and tweaking some details) But usually I'm too lazy to do that I just sketch and be done with it by splashing some colour if I feel like it
