I've wanted something like this for a very long time. When you do a search for KZbin videos on line weight you get almost nothing and only a few of what you do get are very good.

Promoting such a normie anime. It's not nearly as well produced as all the normies think. Go look at something produced during "and golden age of anime" (late 80s early 90s)

@@someuser4166 lmao okay bud. Does it make you feel better acting like you're better than everyone else? The reason I specifically asked Demon Slayer and not an 80s or 90s anime is because its art style has a particular emphasis on line weight AND it happens to have popularity and relevance right now. If you don't care for that, good for you. I'm not pandering to snobs.

@@sael5084 Maybe you're expecting too much from yourself. Classic paintings from the masters used to take MONTH to YEARS. Some even produced only a few paintings in their lifetime. Thank you so much for this video! I've tried to find out why specific artists use which ones for what reason for years but never really found a clear answer, just contradicting fragments of info. That made it harder for me to find out how to do it "right" in my own artwork. Finally getting that explanation about the different techniques and especially when to use which was exactly the info I needed!

I love line work, as I'm most familiar with it in making art. But when I draw digitally, I always feel like my lines are way too thick all over, despite me shrinking the pen size so much! I am now having to shrink down to a value less than 1 on a pretty big canvas and that just seems ridiculous to me 😅
@pinkajou656

Maybe using a different kind of pen or brush would help? I find there’s a big difference with how they each feel even with the same numbered width.
@yoyohayli

@@pinkajou656 I tend to dislike any sort of texture in my brush I use, but I can certainly try. I use Clip Studio Paint and my linework is always on a vector layer, just because I'm trying to make a webcomic where I draw the pages in print format first, then go back and resize/rearrange panels into a scrolling format. Literally have been working on it for a year now and have hardly anything to show for it, but I'm not the most disciplined at working every day, as I also stream three times a week and work full time 😅

I used to draw like this, and still somewhat do... I found with realism sketches, it's great to use for important lines that are subtle and easy to lose.... Like elbow creases, direct lighting or shadow points, the curve of a car or an underboob..... It's used slightly differently than in comics, but ALOT the same

There's, unfortunately, not a one-size-fits-all path because of all of the different styles that fall under "drawing". I recommend doing figure drawing and anatomy study early before trying to tackle complex rendering so that you're not spending your time trying to properly render bad forms that will never look right.
