I am so glad you talk about Belial. In general, for being a videogame based on a silly little gacha game that just wants to steal my money, Granblue Fantasy is a masterclass when it comes to characters owning their sexuality. Hell, I'm a cis white guy who loves big badonkadongs alot (unsurprising with that profile pic, I know), but I want to see more guys like Belial. The absolute confidence he has while saying the worst yet hottest things is just mesmerizing. Also his theme is a banger, despite the fact that it has "call me anal retentive" as a lyric.

Honestly my thoughts on sexualisation in media is: 1. It has to not treat the women as a sexual object (as stated). 2. It has to be within consent, (in all aspects including age). 3. Preferably, it should not be overly unrealistic with proportions. 4. Preferably, it should be in a situation / setting where sexualisation is REASONABLE for the character. 5. This somewhat overlaps with number 2 and 4, but preferably it should obey whatever form of public decency is appropriate (yes I know this notion is relative and varies from society and person, but most of us agree that different situations encourage different presentation).

I think about this concept a lot myself. For a fighting game I'm developing, I made a character named Quwene who's story explores a somewhat different angle of this problem. She's a celebrity who's typically portrayed in over-sexual ways by the companies she works for. But rather than using her as a simple fanservice character, her story instead will focus on the mental health effects of being sexualized and how that affects your self image and how you think of your own body. As a person, being oversexualized can make you see your body less as an extension of you and more as an asset that you own and control, which can lead to a lot of weird dysphoria. It can also warp your view of sex as a concept. That's what I'd like to explore in her story. Also this video made me realize I wasn't subscribed yet. Sorry about that

There's also to note that something a lot of women me included find hot is not even the physical appearance of someone, but their * demeanor *. I don't find Belial that attractive, sure he's well built and dresses well and everything, cool, but what I like is that he's PROUD of it. He fuckin OWNS it. In the exact same way Bayonetta does. What's truly hot isn't even hotness, it's the ability to be proud of your own form of hotness.

4:11 Statistics aren’t everything, sure they may provide useful info but when it comes to a topic such as which gender is more likely to be the victim/abuser in SA, it’s incredibly inaccurate and not reliable since it’s a lot more complicated. Most people seem to forget that both genders were both oppressed by the patriarchy and by sexism. Men were forced to be the strong leaders, the breadwinners, and to die in war and women were forced to be soft followers, the housecleaner, and weren’t allowed to do almost anything really. This still applies to today’s views on SA statistics and especially in the justice system. On average, men receive harsher punishments for the same crimes that women commit, custody is often handed to mothers even when they’re less fit to be a parent, etc. People always say how most victims are women and how most abusers are men, however this is simply untrue. Due to the stereotype of women being delicate and men being strong, people often think that the woman is always the victim first even without evidence simply because that’s what they believe is “common sense” even though it most likely isn’t true. A lot of men either stay quiet about the fact that they were SA’d out of fear of losing their masculinity or are simply brushed off even when they tell people, and a lot of women who do get caught as abusers barely receive attention or punishment and have even gotten off scott-free. In reality, the genders of victims/abusers are split around 50/50, it’s just that society has conditioned the statistics to be total wack since so many people are blind to the facts and give in to social constructs with barely any basis. I am a biological male and I was SA’d in first grade, I was overpowered and couldn’t do anything. I am a victim, yet people assume that I easily could’ve prevented it because I’m male despite the fact that I was a literal toddler. On another note, in an effort to decrease female sexualization in media, we’ve completely neglected the sexualization of males, and studies indicate that it has even increased over the years. In short, instead of assuming that females are more sexualized or victimized, we should instead look at the bigger picture and see it all with a more neutral mindset and not jump to conclusions so easily. Men and women have it equally hard in life, because at the end of the day, life’s gonna treat us all like animals until we learn to wake the fvck up
