Very nice. Really good job describing all the way through. Hair is the most difficult thing to do when drawing a portrait. In my opinion. This was very helpful. Thank you so much.

I am told I draw good hair, but I know it is just so, so. I think "layering" will help me to achieve a better results as I now tend to "work" an area of the subject in one pass. I get fair results, but at a large amount of time and the finished job is not as "clean" as your layering approach. Thanks for this video and am now subscribed!

Hi, My question is: what type and brand of paper are you drawing on for all your tutorial’s???
@BMDPortraits6 ай бұрын
I mainly use Strathmore Bristol papers....sometimes Canson Mi Tientes and Ca' Grain too

I don't have 9B up pencils and charcoal, but I'm currently working with darker hair now. What are the other alternatives that I'm going to do with this? Ps. Really need tips huhu
@BMDPortraits8 ай бұрын
U can use ur highest grade...or u can try to put charcoal powder as base

I`ve never bothered asking anyone before and I even do it myself now mainly because all of the tutors do it, because I think , " well if they do it it must be the way its done when drawing ", but why is the pencils graphite (or charcoal) exposed so long of any wood covering at the drawing end of the pencil , doesn`t this weaken the exposed graphite more giving rise to easier breakages of the graphite if they tumble about in boxes or when moved from one spot to another or they get dropped accidentally? I find I have started being much more careful with how I handle my pencils now because of this. In this particular video, I see you have drawn with a short graphite drawing end , but in the start picture of this video , I see the graphite is about 25mm to 30mm long , so why is this done ?

I only do this with H's and B grade pencils, definitely not on the softer ones....the long exposed led is for more control of the shading and usually its for light shadows or base, and i usually hold them on diagonal position for more even shades.

Bruh no way... you did whole hair in 20 minutes that looks 10 times more realistic than I did trying to do it realistic for hours (I am complete beginer) Not focusing too much on details is key but I cant get it
@BMDPortraits11 ай бұрын
You will get it by putting several layers....do not worry you will figure it out...just keep practicing!

forgot to mention the real time is preferred , the time lapsed has you speaking too fast to get all the info that you are sharing, I watched a lesson on shading and had a hard time catching all the instruction. tom
