He's an old favorite--I loved the Top Cow stuff as a young teen, and it influenced the way I used to draw, and I still take a lot of influence from him. Somehow, I am sort of surprised to see you looking at him next, stylistically I think he's quite far from most of those you have studied on the channel! On an unrelated note, I just finished reading all the Vagabond, and now I am going to be aching for more. Thanks for turning me onto that with your channel--it's one of the coolest things I have ever read, and already a heavy influence on my drawing.

I'm really happy you enjoyed the Vagabond series. I re-read every year and discover new things about it each time. Yeah, Silvestri was a request, and I was surprised by how much there was to learn from his approach.

@@longstrideillustration I have joked before that he is the 'god of pentimento', he always finds the shape he wants, I never noticed the triangles and S's in his compositions before, I learned a lot from this video, despite plenty of studying his art on my own.

I have heard that the ink is the reality, and the pencil art is the illusion. Capturing the vitality and essence of a beautiful graphite drawing with ink is no easy task. I often do at least two inks of the same drawing and sometimes more of an artist’s work I really love and get better with each attempt. As far as I know, the original pencil art was never inked over and only photocopies were used.
@longstrideillustration20 күн бұрын
I can't imagine inking over someone's original pencils - that would be nerve-wracking for sure. You're 100% on that!

I would LOVE to see a video where you could explain how to mash different styles of master inkers together! I've often wondered how that would be approached! Thanks for making great inking videos!

You should do a video on his protege Michael Turner. Also brett booth. Those guys came up with some crazy styles that I love and can replicate but not as well and clean like these pros.

I really enjoy hearing your insights in the art world Chloe. Truly inspiring and insightful to listen to. I just got back into art finding a fun prompt from inktober this year. As well as started to slowly ease through a proko course I pre ordered to learn about perspective drawing and having fun with it. :)

The base of the the Silvestri style is Walter Simonson and John bucema. The cool thing about marcs art is he's always evolving his 90s work is very different today. David finch draws like mark but with heavy blacks and more controlled line check it out.
