The Inkscape Master Class is just fantastic!

I began my podcast 3 years ago knowing absolutely nothing about where to begin. i knew i needed to have a brand i was homeless living on the island of maui hawaii without anything but a phone. i used the tools available to me through free applications i found in the app store. I created a logo though with the limited capabilities of the tools available and what i was able to create i felt was adequate. long story short i wanted to improve my logo and a friend told me i should use inkscape to achieve my goal and gave me a laptop to do it. i have been following along with your tutorials and i have improved exponentially in my education with graphic design and you have made this process for me much less frustrating. i just wanted to express my gratitude for what you do and how its helped my personal journey with my creative expression.

Mindblown. This isn't just a quick demo of some esoteric feature, this is a MASTERCLASS in Inkscape in one video! This is ALSO a demonstration of the power of Inkscape. I will need to watch this & follow along (one day when I have 2 or 3 hours to learn every feature & every setting being demonstrated...). (Noted the message at the end too.)

That's really advanced material I feel but I understood each step and was able to follow along in my own document. I learned a lot, including the corners LPE tool, that's going to be a game-changer for me. Thank you for sharing your knowledge in an accessible way.

Thank you for another great tutorial, Nick! Inkscape is truly amazing, a FOSS success story in my book, alongside Blender

Every time I watch one of those videos by you, I'm totally amazed by how you come up with this stuff. I've been working with Inkscape for quite some time now, but it still feels like I'm a child just fumbling around in a huge tool shed. I wouldn't dare to attempt something requiring advanced effects or anything like that, mostly because it's hard to wrap your head around how those tools really work (even after going through your Masterclass).

Thank you so much, Nick! The linked offset was exactly what I was looking for!
@simpleffective186Ай бұрын
A lot of times i feel the need to apply the exact same manipulation to two nodes, for example in 10:10 and at 10:50 when you have to eyeball the distance you drag out the node handle. Is there a way to do this to just one node and have it apply to others as they are clones? Thanks for the awesome (as usual) tutorial!

Thank you! Great tutorial, however I did not get the idea with the Linked Offset. What is the difference between the Linked offset and just duplication and scaling?
@LogosByNick2 ай бұрын
Scaling doesn't offset the object, it just increases the width and height. Offsetting adds an equal amount of spacing around the object.
@iAdrenalineWave2 ай бұрын
@@LogosByNick I get it, I mean I can duplicate an object, and scale the copy to create the offset, looks like the effect should be the same, but maybe there is something else

1:20 - Wait, that's an actual thing? How have I not noticed that before? I enjoy how you don't always take the quickest route for a step -- e.g. linked offset -> resize -> subtract (instead of just "Stroke to Path").

Hey great vids. QUESTION. I have a design I imported into Inkscape and edited just can’t seem to put a border around it. Design has Curved edges . The border also needs to be design. If you have a video let me know. I scrolled through your vids and couldn’t find this. Thanks

Noob question: why do we have to convert these to path multiple times, we are working on paths already right? does applying some tools make them objects again?

@EmrahUncu2 ай бұрын
@0:57 You converted it to a path and then @2:27 you did it again. Why? Wasn't it already converted?
@kevinfoo80312 ай бұрын
Think because effect is still editable, once object to path, it is finalised. Apply an effect again then finalising makes it a path but no editable effect.
@LogosByNick2 ай бұрын
Converting it to a path finalizes the rounded corners so that they can't accidentally be set back to sharp corners or have the radius changed by scaling the object.
