Seeing your process with the circle and triangle is so eye-opening. I never really did anything to indicate the bottom half of the face (triangle in your case). Usually I'd just draw more circles where the cheeks are and for the chin and then draw the outline of the face with all those circles as guides. But the triangle!!! Is so much more helpful! It's a much better guideline especially in imagining the shape/angles of the face. It honestly blew my mind when you drew the triangle for the quarter turn with the left side being shorter than the right side, because I immediately visualized a perfectly drawn face shape along the lines of the circle and triangle. Sorry for the wall of text, but I am just in awe with how this magical triangle will have simplified my drawing process in the future. Thank you!! :D

Thank you so much! I learnt this trick from learning how to draw manga. Unfortunately it's not commonly used to draw realistic faces, but I've been so used to it, that I can't draw without it 😆 I'm really glad it helped :)

This video made all the difference! I have watched a ton tutorials on how to draw the head at different angles. I understand the concept but I have not been able to translate it on paper. I was getting so frustrated because I really do understand what you're supposed to do with the lines and I understand 3D yet I could not make it work and none of the tutorials were helping. When I saw your video I hit gold. Seeing you use the makeup sponge with the tape lines and turning it, helped so much! I made my own 3D model of it and use it as a "mannequin" to help me practice! I am already getting better and don't have to look at my model and it's only been a couple of hours. I can't thank you enough. I really don't think I would have ever gotten it if I didn't stumble across your video.

I'm trying to get into watercolor portraiture, but that requires an understanding of face sketching. Your videos have been super helpful in providing me with an improved sketch foundation. I'm part of the just using a circle and vague curve for the chin club, a triangle is much easier to manage for practicing and keeping guides consistently the same.

I can't even express how helpful this video is! Great strategies for shapes- especially shapes of sketching features. I watch a lot of videos and no one talks about the general shapes they use for an initial sketch- they just sketch it. Calling it a leaf shape and using all of the angles that you use really helps. I feel mote confident that I can do a nice sketch without following a video.

Zyra -- The makeup sponge was so helpful ... I could see the impact of turning the head so much more clearly now. How can I make one of those for myself? (I looked for makeup sponges online but couldn't find one that shape. And is that black tape? How did you find some so skinny?). Or, are there other physical perspective tools out there that I could buy? I tried searching but I couldn't find anything (except planar heads). It could be they don't exist or I don't know the proper artist lingo to base my search terms on. Any ideas you can offer would be so appreciated!
