Yes sir , it was and is indeed very helpful, thankyou. I drew a landscape and was going to draw myself into it from a picture but I did not I was afraid of it being out of prospective. You explained this by angles and shapes in reference, thank you again !!!!!

I was so busy watching... I really need to get a sketch book out & draw something every day. I take enough pics on my phone that I want to have as a drawing reference... but I still manage to have an excuse. I'll continue to follow ur lessons, tho. Maybe they'll pull me out of this rut.

Thanks for your comment. I know how hard it can be to yank myself out of the rut too. Take a deep breath, grab your pencil and...go! Wishing you the best

I just started drawing and I had an major break through. You're drawing the space in between the object! Not the object itself. Things started to click and I began to access my right brain. It was a big Ah Ha moment for me.

Thanks for your comment! I'm glad it was helpful. I think this one skill is the most important and will help you in every drawing you do. The quicker you can master it the faster you'll improve as an artist.

Thanks for letting me know this idea is hard to understand for you. I made this video mostly focusing on the ideas in the book Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain (by Betty Edwards). But as I’ve taught people over the years I keep reminding myself that teaching is not one-size-fits-all. It’s hard to know everyone’s experience and where they are in learning to draw. I’ve found a solution though. When I sit with a student I can see right away what they’re struggling with. For example, I was with my daughter recently and she told me her struggles with drawing. We were looking at a scene and talking about how to draw it, and to me it seemed like it should be fairly easy, and she laughed and said, “Easy for you, with all your years’ experience.” I pointed out something in the room we were in and was showing her how I take some early measurements and she said, “Why are you closing one eye?” If we weren’t together she would never have seen that and I would never have known that was what was holding her back. So, if you’re willing, I’m offering-at no cost-to sit down with you in a Zoom call and let me see if I can help these ideas make sense for you.
