This is an excellent video on how to do a drawstring cast on. Love your videos - you speak calmly and clearly giving concise instructions and explanations.. You also go at a nice speed so I can actually see what you are doing. Thanks very much.

@HSULTZ1 I will have a pattern soon for a full afghan but I made it on the DA looms infinity II loom. It is an S shaped loom for single knitting in regular gauge with 160 pegs so it knits it all in one peice at a time. You could do it on a few panels at a time.

I am so buying a loom I kept on looking at them but never bought one. I found you from the mike crochet vids. But just watching makes me think that I can learn out to do this. Thank you

After a few months of making hats and flat panels suddenly realized I couldn't remember how to do the drawstring cast on I need for making more "multi-ethnic breast analogs" for a lactation educator who has requested them. A couple minutes of this video and I'm all set to go again!

I love to do this cast on so I can have a nicer brim on my hats, but I can never get it right enough when closing and I always have a big hole at the top of my hat. When I do the more traditional bottom-up style knit hats I do the bind off where you skip every other peg and it gives you the nice double layer spiral type of top. Is there any way to achieve that with a draw string cast on variation? It seems like I can either have a cute top or cute bottom, never both lol

Can this only be used if the drawstring is going to completely 'close up' the knitting? I'm wondering if I can use this cast on to make a slouchy hat on a larger loom (e.g. using the Knifty Knitter yellow loom for an adult-sized hat).

How to cast off onde the hat is done?
@GoodKnitKisses10 жыл бұрын
If you are making a hat, using the method in this video to drawstring cast on, then your bind-off (cast-off) will need to you the basic bind off (or flat bind-off) method OR the stretchy bind-off method. Make sure if using the basic bind off, use a loose e-wrap when knitting the stitches. This way it won't be so tight. If you are a super tight knitter the stretchy method may work better for you. Both are found on my channel.

After your first round of weaving in and out of pegs you end up with empty pegs. But you don’t show wat you do for that part.
@GoodKnitKisses Жыл бұрын
Yes at minute 00:03:00 you then flat knit over the pegs with loops and just hold the yarn in front of the pegs that had been empty. After 1 round the cast on is complete. The next round you would work all stitches on all pegs as normal.
