How to Dress a Spell Candle - Elderberry Sprout Candle Company

I made a blog post about this last year and it is about time I make a video to accompany it! Dressing candles for spells is one of the funnest things you can do with the beeswax candles I sell in my shop! This way candles can be personalized to meet your spiritual needs whatever they may be!

Herbs used for this candle -
I used mainly chamomile, with some lavender, rose, rosemary and calendula. Each of these herbs has a meaning for me and I chose them for this candle based on what I needed at the time. The oil is a blend I made called "dont panic" It has an almond oil base with wintergreen eo and it was steeped in some herbs that I don't recall at the moment! Just remember to use ingredients that hold meaning for you particularly as well as traditional correspondences. Hope this helps!

So what is that main difference or the difference in the Herbs in doing a Come To Me and a Love Spell. And when doing one for a specific target do you also light and candle for yourself?? If some type of herbs, let's say like Dominantion and Communication oils. Or is just 1 candles dressed with the target's name ok. Thanks so much!!

I found that the true magic in candles can be help with one's memory. Memory disturbances, concentration difficulties and memory blockages, etc., only lie partially in the lack of interest of the people concerned or in an overloading of the memory with rubbish, worries and problems, with fixed ideas and other disturbing factors. If these disturbing factors become eliminated, then the memory and the concentration capability function quite suddenly again - like a miracle. Most of the causes can be tensions, stresses, self-mistrust. If the memory is always treated rightly, then it illustrates that so-called failures are only then possible when people overload their memory with rubbish or underestimates this and they deny its capabilities. The Candle Method, one sits comfortably at a table and places a burning candle about one meter in front of oneself. One sits completely relaxed, looking at the lower rim of the candle flame for 5 minutes, whereby always thinking of the word ’SUN’. On the first day, the time of five minutes must be absolutely adhered to, whereas a minute more is always added to each of the following days. Having reached the twelfth minute, every thought is switched off during the following six days of the exercise. Thus, one concentrates only on the lower rim of the candle flame during twelve minutes, without allowing a thought to arise. After these additional six days, the twelve minutes are increased to fifteen and, while one gazes at the lower rim of the candle flame, one thinks about a red (or a golden) rose, which one observes and considers and gets acquainted with in one's imagination. This exercise should also be carried out for six days. Afterwards‚ during this daily exercise, one indulges in a wishful dream, in which case a time span of fifteen minutes should be adhered to.

Simple. I need to go to my local Botanica to buy oils and herbs because I don’t want them to dress it because they rip people off. The spell candles will work but not completely so it’s best for you guys to do it on your own. My homegirl is a psychic and tarot reader. She told me!! I feel like it is more like “one size fit all” effect one size fits some people, but is not perfect clean and adjusted for most. I don’t do tarot or big manifestations, I just do what feels right and magickal for me, I was trying to dabble in it but it didn’t feel authentic to me personally and authenticity is the base for all magick.

No!! Don’t buy oil and herbs at your local botanica because their products are tainted. Stick to Amazon!! Botanica’s overcharge so their business can keep going. They have to pay rent in order to stay. My homegirl is a psychic. She saved my life for personal reasons. Listen to me, you guys. Botanica’s are scams. Their products will work but only halfway. They expect you to crawl back so they can take more money out of your pockets.

🖤🖤witchy tip,I use a dental metal tooth pick to carve my candle,its much easier than a knife!i also put the herbs into greaseproof paper and roll the candle after oiling onto it 🖤🖤

I tell myself "one thing at a time" daily so I can relate lol and the oil mix I used was mainly a carrier oil so in reality you don't need essential oils for this! Just whatever cooking oils you have on the shelf should do nicely :)

Yes that should work well! Especially if you are dressing a candle for a glamor spell! The hair oil could be a great ingredient for that!

Welcome to the magical side of the internet! Ive made a lot of these candles and theyre a really great way to set an intention and give yourself the space to embody that energy. You can really carve whatever you like into the candle, I try to make the carved phrase susinct so that I'm being very thoughtful and intentional to call in the specific energy I want. I sometimes carve a mantra as well which I repeat while burning the candle. The candle can be more flammable depending on how it's dressed, so it's important to make sure you have an intentional and constantly observed burning process as well. Hope that info helps! I used a mortar and pestle set to get those herbs all ground up! This set is a small one that could be easily thrifted if you keep your eyes peeled for it! Good luck!

Great question! If you want the tidiest burn I would suggest you melt the bottom of the candle and stick it onto a tile/plate/piece of granite or some other fire safe material. This is not the safest burning option, but it is the one that I use. Candles dressed in this manner do tend to create a big flame as the herbs on the outside act as additional wicks. You could also put the classic ceramic chime holder over a plate or tile just in case. And always make sure you keep an eye on this candle and keep it away from drafts! Hope this helps Tracie!

As long as it is a taper and the scent and color correspond with the working, I don't see why not! Paraffin wax is a little bit ore flaky so the carving process may need to be a little more intense. Other than that, I think it will be just fine :)

Great question! It really depends on what type of spell you're doing. For the candle I burned, I didn't have any leftover wax cause I anchored it to a tile to burn it. But if you do have wax leftover, you can definitely bury it! Beeswax candles are safe to bury because they are biodegradable. Though if the spell you're doing is a banishing, it may be helpful to throw it in the trash instead lol. if the spell is a protection, the end of the candle could be helpful to hold onto and put one at each corner of your room to reinforce the boundry! There are really so many options :)

You can use any oil! I've used olive oil frequently. You can also add some drops of appropriate essential oils to the olive oil for an extra layer of intention!

The process would look completely different for a potted candle, but it possible to dress them! You would need to use less herbs so you don't clog the wick and I would most likely use crystals instead. It depends on what wax the candle is as well.

I just use beeswax candles, I feel the golden energy works well with most intentions :) but you can use whatever color matches your spells intention!
