Very good , I love catching Crappie and have spent my fair share of decades catching them. For many up here in the north they are a hard water fish whose flavor really stands out when the water temp is in the 30's. Do you ice them down to firm up the flesh in the south ?

The Black Crappie that I catch are not as soft of meat as a White Crappie. I do put them on Ice after I take them out of the drum.

Bobby Garland make a Mayfly jig and a Itty bit Mayfly jig. That Itty bit Mayyfly jig wood work great with those smaller jig head hook setups. Just a thought. Thanks

So you found out that it's always a jig that crappies will hit. I been stop fishing with Meadows years ago. I have over 1000 jigs that I fish for crappies. My favorite is black and chartreuse.
