Thanks for showing two methods. I ended up using the 2nd to widen a hole for a soap dispenser. Saved me from calling a plumber or contractor.

Excellent video. For the novice, option two is the best using the drill template. I learned the hard way when my hole saw skidded and put a gouge in the granite. The template also fills with water, eliminating clouds of dust.

Thank you so much! When my kitchen faucet broke this weekend I thought I was in big trouble. We had been planning to hire someone to help us renovate for some time, so we had an extra faucet handy, but it required another two holes. Thankfully this was the first video I came across. I was a bit intimidated by the angle grinder example, but the hole-saw bit was right up my alley (thanks to the plastic guide). I am by no means a handyman, but the details you provided on the bit bundle and how you should let the bit do the work for you gave me the confidence I needed. Took me the entire afternoon to drill and set it all up, but it looks great and cost me less than an hour of labor. Let me know if you have a Patreon, etc, and I'd be happy to send some of my savings your way.

Thank you ... never drilled a surface at this, and didn't know this tool existed ... I am happy I didn't attempt it with the hole-saw I have at home :) :O My wife would be a bit unhappy if I cracked the kitchen counter :O to install a stupid pup-up USB charger I want to place in it..

The great part about this video is although I have no problem paying any amount of money for a professional to come to my house and drill a hole in my granite (so I can upgrade the bar sink faucet) is that I can’t find a professional willing to come and do a job this small. So even beyond the money…it’s the logistics! Thanks Dude!

Thanks for these videos. I'm wondering if when using the second method with the water well you would also recommend starting with the drill bit at an angle rather than perpendicular, or does it matter?
@funbro1
@funbro1 Жыл бұрын
With the second method it won’t matter either way. The well acts as a guide so there is no reason to start at an angle. Hope this helps, thanks for watching.

Thanks Bob, I am a total novice, but I am learning plenty. Planning on taking carpentry classes at my local community college to learn more about carpentry and drywall. Do you have any videos on dry wall best practices?

great video, how did you determine the front/back position of the hole, is there a standard distance from backsplash or from the sink edge?
@funbro1
@funbro1 3 жыл бұрын
Depends on where the sink is and how deep it is in relation to the front of the top. For this one I didn't want the faucet too close to the backsplash so I measured the distance between the rear of the sink and the backsplash and split the difference. Always have your faucet and make sure that it fits prior to drilling. Hope this helps, Thanks for watching.

I have a bathroom vanity countertop/sink from Ikea, that they tell me is made from dolomite. Any diamond type hole saw bit will go through that similarly? Thanks!

Will the to second bit go through the sink too?
@funbro1
@funbro1 Жыл бұрын
The sink does not overlap the countertop that far, so no it should not go through the sink. Worst case that it does it would only be on the lip and not the actual sink bowl, so no worries. With that being said definitely make sure your holes are in the correct location. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

Does the little adhesive blue well you used in the second option have a specific name? If one wanted to go to the hardware just for that piece what would one ask for?

you can just use plumbers putty and create a round and fill it up with water, no need any tools. Its only job is to hold water

The one that uses water was purchased at a local hardware store and is available at most flooring stores. The dry cutting one was purchased online. I do not endorse any particular product and have not been paid by any product manufacturer, retail, or online store.

@@funbro1 this might be a stupid question. Do you need a new drill for this hole saw? Or do you just buy the drill head and this can be attached to the ordinary drill? When I search diamond hole saw, only the drill head comes up.
