Geniusly simple! Im always seeing cool containers at thrift stores and being like man, i wish it had a hole in it... Finally decided to look up if I could drill with just my handheld drill and found this video. Gonna go to the hardware store for the bits today! thank you!

I have drilled many 1/2 inch holes in glass wine bottles with a diamond drill bit and was taught to hold the bottle under water with top water level about even with the spot you are drilling. Oy apply light pressure as you drill. Worked great but did take my time with each hole.

This is awesome! Thank you so much!! Just drilled into my first non-planter thing! A beautiful eggplant colored baking dish. Some extra tips for beginners: 1) use your body weight to hold the drill in place while drilling 2) put a thumb over the non-circulating part of the drill and other fingers on the material you are drilling to further stabilize it 3) drill boldly! I was really nervous that I was gonna hurt myself or break the dish at first. I told that voice to hush and kept the drill going stronger and stronger. Then plop! Out the holes popped and in will go my plants!

Thanks so much for the tutorial. I created extra holes in a few of my ceramic pots this past Sunday. It already had one hole in the center; however, I prefer several holes in my planter pots. Since I'm doing this, I'm not restricted to pots that have holes since. Adding extra holes to the rest of my planter pots will be on my "to do" list later this week.

You can practice on some old coffee mugs if you're unsure. I know what type of Urban Jungle pot you're talking about. It is terra cotta so it should be fine. It will just take a little longer because it's thicker. Take your time with it and apply even pressure, not to hard. Good luck!

You are fearless!! And the pots came out beautifully! The only thing I would suggest is wearing safety glasses...

Hi Carmen, I just wanted to thank you for the link to the diamond drill bits. We ordered them and received them today and they work so well. We drilled holes in 7 pots and I just wanted to let you know how much I love them. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos. Your friend Crystal

So glad they worked for you! Now you can buy any pot and not worry about it not having a drainage hole.

Great tutorial. Always a pleasure to hear your soothing voice. Why did you go for the smaller bit on the ceramic? I did one like that a while ago and everything I put in that pot died(dead plant & moist soil). The soil always stayed too moist and didn't drain enough causing root rot.😕 Now only my agleonema's and arrowhead's use ceramic, everything else in terracotta.

I only selected that size because of the size of the pot. I didn't want too big of a hole . I am more careful watering ceramic pots. I also have all my Aglaonemas in ceramic. Thanks so much for watching Tonya!
