1) Clutch down 2) Turn key (engine on) 3) Gear 4) Hand break off 5) set gas 1500+ revs 6) lift clutch very slowly till car moves 7) hold clutch steady till revs go up And you are then able to take foot off clutch.

I think the point should be to hold the clutch and breaks down because if your car is positioned downhill, it could go free due to clutch engagement.
@MikeyDLooffy2 жыл бұрын
You should never start that way, the proper way is finding the bite point, give it gas as you slowly let go of the clutch.

I wish my driving teacher was as calm and explained as much as you. I find the thing you do with the clutch and gas pedal incredibly hard, but no one has ever told me to watch the RPMs. This sonds like a good advice to beginners who are still trying to find their way around the car. For the first time I actually cannot wait to try this and see if I could start moving without shutting the car off a couple of times in a row.

Haha most people never watch the RPM gauge even when I first started driving (Never driven an auto never will) I never looked it it, I grew up riding dirt bikes. Well motorcross bikes have nothing in the way of gauges so you’re already used to listening to the engine. Gauges can fail but engine sound’s won’t. I was really little when I started driving so I didn’t even know there was an RPM gauge till my mother told me

@@stefangermanski2668 Thank you! About the exams? Not sure if it's the same where you're from but in my case, for the written exam, review traffic rules and regulations, your licensing office might have an online reviewer for the exam. This is important because they won't even let you do a test drive if you fail. For the driving test, it's all about how much you practice, so it's better if you have a car and someone to teach you since you will spend less in driving school. Your driving instructor will give you better tips than I'll ever do. Just don't forget to buckle up at the driving test and goodluck, man!

I stalled almost everytime I tried to set off, I shifted badly twice and so on. Thankfully, my current instructor is chill about it and said that it's a lot different in real life than digitally and that I'll get the hang of it eventually.

I am currently doing lessons (only had 2), but I can't believe my instructor hasn't said anything like that either. When I asked why the car moved like that the instructor (and everyone I would ask when asking doing little trials before my official lessons) would always just say the same thing - you're coming off the clutch too quickly. I don't know what version of English these people are speaking compared to me but 'quickly' doesn't mean or imply 'without pausing'. If anything saying you come off it too quickly makes you think slow but continous is what you should be doing - which is still not correct 🙄

Another piece of advice I figured out on my own - When you are first learning to drive a manual, wear sandals. Doesn't matter if it's cold, wear socks with your sandals if you have to. It's much easier to find the bite point if your footwear has thin soles. In the first few days of learning to drive a manual, I was wearing regular shoes, and I kept stalling and bucking non-stop. I couldn't feel the bite point. Then on a whim, I decided to wear sandals. Like magic, the bite point became very obvious, and I instantly stopped stalling and bucking. So, wear sandals, it'll make your life easier.

I had my first driving lesson today !! it was so scary but also so fun- this video is a great recap of my lesson.. my biggest issue was braking. I kept hitting the clutch too early and too slowly and then hitting the brakes too fast🤦♀️

Thank you SO MUCH for this video 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 I'm currently in week 2 in driving school and during practicals, balancing between the clutch & accelerator pedals always gets me in a fix. This guide will change my practice A LOT. God bless you!!! 🙏🏽💃🏽

I've known all these basics, but u explain things so nicely, the left foot not being planted after finding the biting point was my mistake, either planted it too early not being able to fully lift off the clutch when i need to, or i didn't plant it at all causing my left foot to be unstable on the clutch. Absolutely something in here for every single beginner. Class video mate!

I learned how to drive an automatic awhile ago and wanted to learn how to drive a manual, gave up because I could never get the takeoff smooth, would stall all the time, and had no idea what I was doing wrong. Decided to try again after watching some of your videos, and not only have I not stalled since picking it back up but all of my takeoffs and gear changes are super smooth. A true testament to the quality of your teaching that I went from not being able to drive a manual at all to driving smoothly and even having fun just by watching your videos. Thank you so much!

@@Todsor it isn't car specific, every manual car you put your clutch in to then change gear, as the clutch acts as a blocker from your hear falling in and out of where it should be, imagine all gears are closed, once you put the clutch in all gears open, like doors, then once the clutch is out, all gears closed again 👍

I got my driver's license more than 2 years ago. I learned on a diesel car and my teacher taught me the "clutch first, then gas" technique to move off in first gear. I didn't realize back then how this practice will make my life harder. Eventually I bought my first car, which was a petrol car. I heard that it's a "tiny bit" different from a diesel and you need to apply a little bit of gas when moving off. Well, I certainly did not expect it to be that hard. I struggled for quite a bit of time to get it "right" and not to stall the car each time I had to move off from a red light. I just bought my second car, which is also a petrol car, but it's more powerful than the previous one. Now I need to so to say "re-learn" a few things and one of them is to find the biting point, and furthermore, how to move off without making the car jump back and forth like a kangaroo. It's not that noticeable but I certainly feel it, something is not right. I figured it's due to my technique. Now I try to fix it. Thank you for the videos and keep up delivering quality content like this one!
@ConquerDriving4 жыл бұрын
I hope the video helped. What car did you buy? Are you in the UK?

@@ConquerDriving Yes it helped. It's actually not that bad as I first described, but I still make mistakes. This is why I like your videos. I bought a Seat Leon ST 1.4 TSI (2014) not so long ago. It's actually similar to the one you drive, but it's a station wagon. I live in Germany, by the way. :)
