Thanks. I am taking care of one of these for a friend, and kept wondering where the clutch was. This is very helpful.

Why toyota made this crappy gearbox I don't know but it would been better off with the regular fully automatic gearbox with, P, R, N, D, 2, L, like the previous yaris had, these gearboxes always have issues even in lower milege ones.
@anderstermansen1302 жыл бұрын
What the hell is 2 and L in automatic???
@hassankhan3842 жыл бұрын
@@anderstermansen130 2 is the second gear so it can help you move better in snow or slippery road and need to lower the gear to get more grip at wheels, And L is for Low gears it keeps the car in lower gears e.g. 2nd or 3rd and won't it won't shift to higher gears, this helps you have more torque and usally used if your towing somthing e.g. caravan etc and this will allow to put less stress on engine, hope it helped you.

Toyota cars generally are usually good cars. I used mine for long time without problem i only change the oil when the time is due. Yaris is a good product. I recommend it but however cars don't send a letter in advance when they want to break down, so i wish you good luck 👍

Please i don't know why mine works this way..Each time i stop for traffic light or on pause on a sloppy road looking for parking space. The transmission automatically changes to neutral on the board without me changing it. So when i try to switch back to drive or reverse it just wouldn't work. So I'll have to put it off, wait few seconds , restart the engine and then it'll start working. Sometimes this causes confusion on the road... what could be the cause?

I put the gear on E without pulling handbrake, and the car starts rolling. Is it normal with this car? Does anyone have an idea?
@petritgjeraku83183 жыл бұрын
Hello, I'm certain you must have it figured out by now but anyways, with handbrake off, yes, it creeps forward, you need to press the brakes and lift them slowly as you see fit to pull out safely.

Sorry to break it to you, buddy, but that car isn't semi-automatic, it's just automatic. If you aren't REQUIRED to shift gears manually (i.e., no driver involvement in shifting gear ratio), then it's not semi-automatic. If the transmission is even capable of shifting gears by itself, automatically, then it isn't semi-automatic, it's just automatic. This transmission you are talking about is automatic because it can change gear automatically, by itself. True semi-automatic transmissions are like what is used in Formula 1, the clutch is automatic (after launching the car from stationary/standstill into 1st gear), but the driver still has to select gears manually with the paddle-shifters on the steering wheel. So, it's partially automatic (clutch), and partially manual (shifting).
@OjieElimi4 жыл бұрын
Bro thanks for the info. If you check very well you will see that, the car gear box is divided into two parts. The right is automatic and the left is for you to select your gear yourself. So what do you call that since you are car specialist. I have had a straight automatic car where the driver is not required to do any other thing than, start the car, position the gear stick on D. That is all. But on this toyota i have to decide if i wanna be in charge or allow the car to do it for me. So tell me and on the manual it's written semi-Automatic.

I have a Honda Civic i-shift and am the second owner. Only 90,000 Kms and clutch is worn so I will change it in a few days time. Maybe the first owner didn't know how to drive it and maybe even me. However I watched a video on how to drive it properly. Now I drive only in manual mode also I pause for about 1 second after changing gear then I put my foot back on the accelerator softly in order for it not to lose revs. I was losing revs all the time before and I think that is maybe how the clutch got worn. Also when I stop at lights etc, I keep my foot on the brake and keep it in gear since going into neutral and drive frequently wears the clutch. I think the I shift is similar to the MMT. I will only keep this car for 2 or 3 years max then trade it. It's a shame cos I do like the car but I can't do quick gear changes. Also, after I replace the clutch their may be a possibility that I may have to repair the actuator, I hope not. Anyone who has any thoughts or advice please reply.
